I bought a small bag of Science Diet today and saw that they had the Blue dog food too, so was checking that one out too. I didnt think about checking out what my vets carry. Do you think the Science Diet is good, what about the Blue? If neither then I will be checking out what the Vets have here. |

Location: Hill Country of TEXAS!! | If the Blue is the one that's all natural and "organic". I can't remember how they label their foods to set them apart from the other brands but it's made a lot of dogs sick since it's so different. So maybe change her over like you would a horse if you decide to go that routeForgot to add that science diet is good. Most vets carry it.

I fed my first Husky SD, and he was a very healthy and happy boy right up to 13 1/2. |

Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | Thanks Ladys , I may stick with the SD then, I'm putting new carpet in and dont want her getting sick and will change her over slowly like Dash4kj was saying. I need to check to see if they have SD for the senior small dogs, I just like the way it smelled. I know that its been around for a really long time and that the Blue is kinda new still, thanks for the inputs.. |

Awww thanks, I'll go back to TSC and take more time to look for the senior, I hate going into TSC and kinda rush threw there, so I'll go back in a few days, I did get the bag of small bites for adult dogs 1 threw 6 years old. LOL and she did gooble that up . So I'm guessing its pretty good. |

It'll be your luck that TSC won't have that kind in stock---like Renew Gold ![]() Edited by Chandler's Mom 2016-01-23 6:43 PM

Location: here there and everywhere! | I rescued a 5 year old shih tzu that was a puppy mill stud. Hes got no teeth save for a few but has severe digestive issues. If your dog is having digestive issue i would highly suggest having your vet pull blood then run a maldigestion blood panel on him. It will tell them exactely whats going on. While it is good to get advice you should know 100% with blood tests before you start putting him on different foods. You can actually be hurting him more than anything.
We have my guy right now on Hill's Prescription Diet i/d Digestive Care Original Low Fat Canned Dog Food, and hes been doing great but again we know what to feed because of the blood work
Good luck! |

No health issues, was just curious what others feed their senior dogs, with her getting older I thought it might be time for a change in her diet, theres just so many new dog foods out there I was just wondering what others thought is a good food and what they may be feeding their own little dogs. I just dont want to feed something that could cause a problem later down the road. Thank you |

Location: Buffalo, TX | I have a 15 yr. old JackRat and he is a picky eater, very nervous, non-stop energetic and hard to put weight on until I started adding Dinovite to his feed...what a difference. It adds the enzymes that are cooked out of most dog food. He's been on it for over 3 years. I feed a food from Petsmart called Healthy Advantage (sorry, don't remember who makes it)...He also gets chicken mixed in with it that I cook in the crockpot (I know...LOL)... |

Your little fella is one lucky little guy, mine is a Chihuahua my son rescued her about ten years ago out of a pound for his wife, now I have her, they came to visit one day about 8 years ago and Dana {dog} didnt want to leave so shes been here with me ever since. So we really dont know her age, so was thinking she had to be in her early teens by now..She is part of the family now..

Location: Central Texas | I have small seniors and I have used both SD and Blue Buffalo, both with good results. I have stuck with the SD because it is a little cheaper and didn't notice a difference in their condition regardless of which one I fed. |

Thanks for the reply, I did check out the Blue Buffalo, but I like the pricing of the SD a little bit better so I thought I would give it a try.. All you guys are awesome thanks for helping me here.. |

Location: the end of the rainbow | I've got to admit that we put my 15 year old Jack Russell on the Silver Lining herbs for dogs (just their general health one, I'll have to look up the name). She thinks she is a puppy again. She was a bit overweight and getting pretty wheezy but she's lost almost 2 pounds (I think because she is so much more active) and does not have the breathing problems/cough at all any more. She runs around so much more now than she was. It has been amazing for her. |
