Location: The Road Less Traveled | Are there any 5 year futurities anymore? I have been out of barrel racing for about 10 years and have a young one now coming that is 4 this year and just being broke (she's kind of small and they had to wait for her to grow a little). So I am hoping there are still some futurities that are 4 & 5 year old or I guess my other option would just be to run in the derbies? |

Location: Bastrop, TX | She is eligible to run in the BFA futurity IN Oklahoma Dec of this year as long as you do not enter her in any barrel race prior to Dec 1st. payments have already began so you would have a late fee. In 2015 we broke mine in Feb and he was so easy and took right to the barrels so we entered him in Dec 2015 Juvenile because is not 4 yet ( well he is considered 4 now) A friend of mine has one that was not ready so they are hauling him to exhibitions only this year and he is going in Dec this year to BFA. So he will be a coming 5yr old. There are several futurities that you can enter 5 yr olds in as long as they have not been entered before Dec 2016. |

Location: The Road Less Traveled | Thanks for the info. I will look into the futurity in Dec in OKC. Do you know what futurities I would be able to enter her in next year? |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | If stallion is paid in, there is the 5 state. I think Fizz Bomb is still 5. That is a nice futurity. I was also thinking the VGBRA and some of the NE ones were 5 still. |

Location: Bastrop, TX | Not sure where you are but I think the JB Quarterhorse Futurity in Waco is for 4 and 5 yr olds. You could not enter it this yr but you could next yr. Also the WRAPN3 barrrel race assoc has a few futurities thru the yr and they are for 4 and 5 yr olds. Plus at all their barrel races they have futurity and derby sidepots. We are in Texas. |

Lance Graves is 4 year old. Diamonds and Dirt, JB, Jackson Hall, Jud Little Barrel Bash, and some up north are 5 year old |

Location: Where I am happiest | Diamonds and Dirt is 5 yr olds. Pretty much ALL futurities in the west are for 5 yr olds. VGBRA, Sand Cup, C-N, All the AZ in January, All Utah, Idaho, Montana, Wyoming futurities are for 5 as well. |

Location: God's country | Along those lines doesn't the horse have to competed in a futurity to run in derbies? Wasn't real sure about that so thought I'd ask. |

| The first payment for the BFA futurity in Dec was due mid Jan. The second payment is coming up. There are late fees if not paid on time. The juvenile is for three year olds. |

I've wondered that too. |

| Not sure where you're from, but we have a "Northern Region Futurity Tour" in Minnesota, South Dakota, and Iowa and these futurities are all open to 5 yos. There are about 10 of them from May through October. |

Location: NE Texas | WPRA futurities and side pots are 5 YO futurities. Some of the larger 5d's have a futurity or derby sidepot also, which for me being unable to take of full weeks of work, still gives me some futurity money. |

| There are actually quite a few 5 yr old futurities. I love this online magazine. If you skip towards the back pages it is all colored coated on age of futurity and where they are located along with dates. Hope this helps! I have been to the Hawki and LOVE IT!

Location: The Road Less Traveled | Thanks so much everyone. Gives me a little hope with trying to get this one ready and not putting such a rush on her to do something this year. Have a great Saturday! |
