My grandpa has been in ICU for over a week now. He went in for pneumonia and for several days they couldn't get his fever down. The fever finally broke and he was talking and joking around but then had another set back. He was diagnosed with leukemia about a yr ago and the doc said he would be able to go for awhile without chemo. Well with his body not being able to fight off the infection, his leukemia has taken over. His body has been trying to shut down and they put him on a respirator because he wasn't getting enough oxygen.

I wanted to ask for prayers, this man means the world to me. He's the only grandpa I had growing up, my others passed away when I was little. He's been to just about every softball game, barrel race, graduation and he's got 9 grandkids. He's always supported all of us in our goals and dreams. I know the odds aren't good, but I'm hoping he will pull through. He's loved by many and we aren't ready to loose him yet. So I ask for prayers and to please keep this amazing man in your thoughts. He's always been so active and loves people and life. My grandma did text today and said they lowered his medicine and he woke up and tried to open his eyes and squeeze their hands.

I've been really torn up, its hard to see someone who has been so strong, look so weak and tired. Thank you all so much and I appreciate it. I believe all the prayers he has been getting is helping him keep fighting.

UPDATE:
My grandpa passed yesterday. We were all there holding his hand and praying. Thank you for all the prayers. He fought so hard, but God wanted him home. He is so loved and its just a hard time for the whole family.

My grandfather had cancer, and I remember feeling the exact same way you do---how heartbreaking it was to see someone who I thought could do anything and take care of anything reduced to being in a bed and virtually helpless. I'm sending many prayers for his recovery; the relationship between a girl and her grandpa is very special.

Sending prayers for you all. I'm only 27 but, the older I get, the more I realize how much I will be dealing with this sort of stuff. I lost my grandma to Alzheimers. My husband lost his grandma to heart failure and complications with pneumonia. My other grandma is having issues with her diabetes. It's hard to grow up. My heart aches for you.

I'm 24 and in my mind my grandparents are suppose to be here when I have kids. I know now that its probably not going to happen. I did get news today he is more responsive and that made my day. I'm going to go up tomorrow and see him. I was up there all last week and its just really hard to see him like this. Thank you all for the prayers. I believe its giving him the strength to keep fighting!

Grandpa is slowly getting better day by day. Everyday he improves, but he still has a long way to go. Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers
