Certainly not your average horse. It really takes a special person to train one. My trainer has one that is temperamental and flighty. She is the only one who has ever ridden him and I don't think he would trust anyone but her. That being said, he holds the arena record at at least one arena. He had the second fastest time at The Reunion at Josey's second go. That time ended up being the fourth fastest time of the entire weekend. He won the Sr saddle at Josey's the year before.

His daughters seem to be a lot easier to get along with than what his sons were. Same with his grand get. They are really smart, super athletic and pretty. But they are stronger willed than most horses. We had a few own get and numerous grand get.

I've started 3 paternal granddaughters (all by Country Quick Dash) and one maternal granddaughter (by Tres Seis and out of a RQD daughter) on barrels.  They've all been pretty nice, trainable horses.  All of the ones I've had, came off the track.

I had one of the sweetest stallions for a short time. He was by Stoli and out of a Royal Quick Dash daughter. I think that is the best place to find him, as a broodmare sire.

My Xena rocket mare is a RQD granddaughter.  Like others have described - big, strong, FAST.  Trainable, but not one who just anyone can ride.  Along the years I put a few others on her thinking they might do better with her than I could.  Not so.  She turned a mean set for me, but no one else could get her to hook for the turns.  I swear she concussed you taking off from the alley!

Very Strong Willed...athletic when broodmare was an athlete herself. Fast. I would ride another if it's coming from a mare with special moves. I would pass on straight race bred.

My 7 year old mare is a granddaughter of Royal Quick Dash. She's a little quirky, nothing that any good hand can't or won't handle, but has a heart of gold and will run for her life for her rider. I would take a barn full.

We have 4 grandget.  Three are by the same stallion and are all very good minded, trainable and easy to get along with.  The mare is hot, but very gritty, honest and tries to please.  The 4th is by a different stallion and he has some attitude.  As long as you stay on top of him he is not bad, but give an inch and he will definitely push the limits.

I have a mare by Royal Blue Chew Chew who is a son of Royal Quick Dash. I love her. She came off the track in October. The owners aced her to ride her after she came from the track. I brought her home and treated for ulcers and she has been awesome. She can get a little warm if we are doing high intensity exercises but will walk off on a loose rein and stop and stand still no prob. It took me a week or two to get her to trot without loping and lope without increasing speed without being asked. I really love this mare honestly. She's not perfect but she has an awesome mind and really tried for me.

I would describe my 09 Country Quick Dance mare as feisty, gorgeous( she floats literally) , gentle, sweet, super fast and athletic, she loves to go. She will go all day in the hills , is super smart, bottom of the herd, trots or lopes everywhere in the fields. She is a quirky fun lil thing .I got her straight off track late 4 yr old , but she had been ridden a lot in a stock saddle .

I have a son of Royal Blue Chew Chew that I adore. He does get a little tight and want to get jumpy, but it's only because he wants to please so badly. He absolutely loves to run barrels. He hunts first like none other I've been on. He has zero pain tolerance, and gets ulcers quick if he's sore anywhere. He loves people and is very bonded up with me. He loves when I stand with him and just pet on him, he'll come over when I'm sitting and put his nose in my lap to be loved on. He's extremely fast and clocks without even seeming to, and is very long strided.

The key to him has been to be very empathetic, respectful, and kind to him, and he's happy and ready to work. He doesn't take getting in trouble without getting rattled, and was easy to train because he tries so hard.

I'm sorry that the stud died, I would've loved to breed my good mare and try for another Rio. :)
