ok guys.. my husband bought me a bag of pellets and I am not sure how much I am suppose to feed. I normally feed the cubes but we wanted to try the pellets.  Can someone please give me some information.

I feed 1 large scoop which I've weighed to be 3.5 pounds. My horses get that in the morning and their grain at night

like a regular feed scoope?  I feed 2x a day.  So I was feeding a 1/4 scoope at both feedings.  So wasn't sure they were getting what they needed or not. They also have hay available 24/7.

yes, the plastic feed scoop is what I feed. Mine are on round bales of bermuda too. I also feed a vitamin/mineral with the hay pellets and the equine nutritionist I work with said it's a good program. My broodmares are getting extra feed but that is them.

Thank you soooo much... you have been very helpfull. Do you see them thriving more off the pellets than the cubes?

I've never fed cubes, so I can't answer that honestly. But, mine are all dappled on the diet I have them on and in very good health.

What grain do you feed along with the alfalfa pellets ? I'm starting to feed alfalfa pellets & beet pulp mixed & am thinking about going grain less .

only my broodmares. They're getting oats with it. Everyone is getting Adeptus Augment (vitamin/mineral) in the alfalfa pellets.

How much of the Augment do you feed? I found the Adeptus website and a place to order but it doesn't say how much to feed or how long each size lasts 1 horse....

I feed a full scoop (your regular plastic scoop) along with Chaffhaye for my hard keeper for lunch. He gets feed for breakfast and dinner. My other horses get 1/2 to 1/4 scoop for lunch with chaffhaye. I don't feed the cubes because we've had horses choke, so I can't compare - but i'm perfectly happy with pellets. They don't get "hot", but it keeps their gut going throughout the day.
