| I bought a 2008 Chevy 2500HD with less than 50k miles on it last summer.
I've pulled several trailers and never had an issue with the integrated braking system until this weekend. Hooked on to our 20' stock combo for the first time and had brakes the whole way to the race.
Parked, never messed with the plug, when I went to leave the truck wouldn't pick up the brakes. It wasn't giving me any error message and I had all my lights, I just never got the "trailer connected" message and my trailer brakes didn't work.
Brakes have works flawlessly with this truck on my 2H Titan bumper pull and on a friends gooseneck.
Brakes on the trailer have always worked just fine on our 2007 Duramax truck and our 2005 or 2006 GMC, neither have the integrated brake system though.
Ill be reaching out to some mechanic friends, any tips on what direction to send them in? |

| Not a Chevy but have the same issue with my Ford. Took it to the dealer 3 times under warranty and they kept telling me that it was in my trailer, despite hooking to hubby's trailer and having the same problem. Hubby messed around with the brake position switch and it worked for awhile. Dealership then said that the switch was bad. Replaced the switch and now it won't work at all using the brake pedal but WILL if you use the hand valve.
If anybody has a fix, I'd sure like to hear it. The only suggestion the dealership can give me now is to install an external trailer brake. Gee....thanks..... |

| Yeah, I still have my old controller from my last truck but I love the way the brakes work when they work so I'm hoping to find a fix!
Research shows me the lack of an error message may just mean it's grounding out somewhere. I hit some rough road on the drive so maybe something got jiggled loose and is grounding it out. Or that I blew a fuse.
Grounding out sounds like a needle in a haystack, but hopefully one of the mechanic friends can get after it easier than I can

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | That happened to me with my flatbed hauling hay. Something had come loose on the trailer. I tried restarting a few times in case it was the truck, but it didn't work, so I just went really slow. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | If you want brake issues try living on 17 miles of dirt road that oilfield travels. My trailer brakes actually shake loose in the wheel eventually. We have fixed them so many times my husband finally said screw it on the last one and took the brake guts out. So now I have 3 tires with brakes.
I need to get a brake control put in our truck we just bought, but it has been so long not even sure where to go? |

Location: Feeding mosquitos, FL | Having a similar problem in my Dodge except I would get an error message to "Check trailer brake wiring." I did not get the message hooked to my husbands flat bed so I figure it has to be the horse trailer. My dad pulled one of the hubs off and the brake came out in pieces. Oops.
Currently waiting on new brakes to come in for all four wheels. We'll replace those and that'll hopefully fix the issue. I really miss my trailer! According to Dad (and his friend Google), the newer brake controllers send a little current to the trailer brakes on startup and see if they encounter any resistance. If they do, they shut off to protect themselves. |

| No it would appear this is a gremlin, we went out last night and hooked on, truck picked up the trailer every time no problems if the truck was on, off first, unplugged and re plugged. Yet yesterday we couldn't get it to pick it up to save our lives.
I won't be hauling anything too heavy until I trust that I'll have trailer brakes that's for sure. If it starts doing it again I may just take it to the dealership, Google says it's not an uncommon problem and they have some programming things they can do now.
