If you were leasing a 1D horse for someone to take to the college rodeos for the season what would you charge for a lease?  How would you have it set up etc.?  Thanks in advance!

I believe there were some threads lately about leases. Try searching for them and you might find something helpful.

I had a dad ask me to lease a horse last year for his college bound daughter. He thought the lease would be easier on his pocket book than a purchase. He thought differently after we discussed the terms. He now "owns" a horse kicking hiney in the SW region.

It came down to this point: I could be winning $ 250 pretty easily at a rodeo, JP etc. Your daughter wants the horse for a full weekend $500 per weekend how many rodeo's you headed to? How many JP's you intend to make to get that timing down to perfect so the horse and her are making $ winning runs?

Get signed contracts with the specifics on everything: from which vets to take the horse to, responsibility for all vet bills, shoeing bills etc. I even insist that the horse be kept in a stall with turnouts. I will check on my horses and if college kids have not fed the horse by 8 am I will load it up and take it home. You can party on another animal.
