Outside of injections, and previcox, supplements etc, what other therapies have helped your horse with pain associated with bone spur in hocks? Ice packs, BOT, PHT ?

Thank you!

Pht hock boot didn't help mine. On one horse I used silver lining herbs bone and hoof and kidney and it dissolved it but on current horse it didn't work. Just injections for him.

Pentosan has definitely helped mine with arthritic hocks.  It has especially lengthened the time between injections-to about 18 months instead of every 3-6 like originnally planned.  I also have a set of magnetic hock wraps that seem to help (but that could just be in my head) :

Centurion Mini Pulse. It has dissolved a splint and a spur on a customer's horse. Also a good joint supplement. I use a compounded Adequan I get from my vet. I also feed TNP and Fluidity from oxygen. Always ice and poultice after running. And if you can sweat it the day before and day of as well as day after.

I'm told surgery is not an option.

I am getting the injections done and also giving previcox. Just wondering what else is effective based on personal experience. :)

It is a pulsed electro magnetic field therapy. You can use it on knees, legs, hocks, ankles. I've even used on a horse with a sore neck.

I use the sore no more poultice. I ice every time I ride. The sweat I use is furacin/DMSO.

Ice horse after a run. Ice vibes without ice before.

I don't have a horse with this condition but in general I think heat is good before exercise - BOT hock boots. Followed by cold after exercise - I use Ice Horse after a run. Cold hosing if at home. I also use poultice after a run or hard ride.

I haven't had anything that PHT MagnaCu wraps haven't helped.  I recently picked up an older mare with a chip in her knee.  I wrapped her knee in the new Hock N Knee Wrap and the next morning she came out of her stall like she was ready to go to a barrel race.

Please keep in mind that PHT - MagnaCu Hock Boot is no longer the 3n1  It is a hock boot that is getting rave reviews including leading veterinarians.  It is compression, copper and PHT Magnetics all in one wrap.  They are staying on and horses are happy.
