I have been having this issue for quite some time now and it is driving me nuts I can't break myself from doing it. I am completely frustrated. I just cannot seem to sit evenly on my horse, I am always sitting more on my left seatbone, when I look down my left knee is always more foward then my right, my right toe pushed forward. It makes my saddle tip the right and forget about loping, I just about twist off my horse. Started with me only going it at a lope, now I can't even walk without my body wanting to twist. If I ride bareback or without stirrups I don't do it. I have tried adjusting my stirrups shorter, longer, different saddles, etc. I have had chronic back pain since I was about 14 years old, I am now in my 30s. Have been riding since I was 7... and I probably rode better when I was 7 than I am now! I go to the chiropractor on a monthly basis, I have stretches to do, he suggested planking to strengthen my core. Nothing is helping. I am up for ANY suggestions

My first suggestion was going to be to get adjusted, but you're already doing that.  To get your body positioned correctly to do a left hand circle, with your right hand on the reins reach back and touch the point of your horse's hip with your left hand fingertips.  This puts your pelvis, shoulders, and legs in the right position without needing to force them.  If it's uncomfortable, maybe take some Advil or something first?  That will give you the feel back, so maybe you can find it on a straight line after some re-strengthening.

I hurt my back and was having sciatic nerve pain last summer, which made riding square nearly impossible until I got it fixed, so I feel for you.

My mom has trouble with this. Her problem is her back, when it gets bad she'll end up with a bunch of ribs out, and you can visibly SEE the difference when she's standing flat footed. She just has to concentrate on it. She did swap her horse to the left bc she rides stronger to the right.
I inherited her body and all its ailments LOL, so I'm always very aware of my body positioning. Just something I don't slack on.

It could be your saddle is crooked, try riding in a different saddle.

It could also be the horse, my mare this year the saddle shifted so much at a lope I felt like I was falling off, she was out in her ribs. Try the saddle on a different horse.

If you have done both of these, I'm at a loss as you have been to chiro.

You've gotten good advice and I will just add...Have your horse checked out also as you will mirror your problem to your horse.

Massage therapy & chiro work together. It's just finding a good m & c. I am blessed to have a wonderful massage therapist & chiro who are getting my body back together. Best to you. I so understand your situation.

Have you tried getting adjusted more than monthly along with massage until your muscle memory gets better?

Following! I have the same problem (only on one horse) and it is driving me up the WALL. I do think she might have one shoulder bigger than the other and after going through 6 different saddles I ended up with a Sibley that finally doesn't roll to the right but I still can see a huge difference in that I still favor my left seatbone just like you. I went to the chiro a few times but maybe I need to go more?

I have not tried massage. I had been going to the chiropractor 2 times a week, and now am down to once a month. I think I need to go at least a couple times a month again though, lately by the end of the month I am in a lot of pain. I do have a rib that keeps getting out of place since thanksgiving, its really bothering me again right now. Its the top rib right up by my neck, my shoulders look lopsided.
I also have muscle spasms in my neck that I have been dealing with for the last 3 years. It was so bad at one point they thought I had a braid tumor because I was so dizzy and they couldn't find anything else wrong with me. That is the only MRI I have had, it was just of the my head not any of my back, my insurance would not approve an MRI of my neck. Long story short it ended up my muscles were spasming and putting pressure on the nerves in my neck, why I was so dizzy. They had me on a lot of muscle relaxers and pain pills, but all they did was make me sleep so I don't take anything anymore. It hasn't been that bad lately, but the cold weather does bother me and when I am under a lot of stress my neck cramps up pretty bad and I get short periods of dizziness. I don't ride when its really cold. Soo yea... I am a mess.
And now.... my horse currently has a sore back, right along is loin. I don't know if its from my riding, or because he tripped and went down when we were trail riding on friday. I don't know if he tripped because of me or because of his boots. He is wearing easyboots right now because his feet were in such bad shape the farrier wanted his foot to grow out some over the winter. I need to get his shoes on, he is too clumsy in the boots. I have a call in to the chiro/acupuncture for him, just haven't heard back from her yet.
I obviously do not want to hurt him. I try to get off and walk if we are trail riding and I get tired as that is when I tend to twist the most. I may just need to go back to riding in just my bareback pad for a while.... once we are both not so sore and my boy has his shoes back on that is. Its just incredibly frustrating. I loooove to ride but when I am continuously tipping my saddle and can't ride right I just feel like I should give it up.

i have had the same problem for years and never quite knew why.  on the inside of your pelvis is a muscle called the PSOAS....it is quite possible that yours is the same as mine.  my right one got torn when i slid off a horse that had reared up..so my right one is now tighter than the left.  there are exercises you can do to help stretch or loosen that muscle .  i have a slight scoliosis that helps attribute to this malfunction too... there was an article on FB about a year ago i'll see if i can find it.

No hes not. I do it on other horses and saddles, so definitely me. I don't do it when I ride without stirrups. I had talked to my one chiropractor about it over the winter, I just got a new guy the last couple months and haven't talked to him about it. Going to see if I can get in today. I have an appointment for wednesday but my shoulder is killing me where my rib is out.

mhprimetime are any of the stretches something you could explain over the internet for me to try?

I have the same issue, I broke my right leg about 10 years ago and it does affect my riding. I'm actually having a special saddle pad made for my mare because her left shoulder is bigger than the other.

I don't have any suggestions but you aren't alone!

Buy Sally Swift's book Centered Riding. And get yourself some beginner yoga and/or Tai chi videos to do at home.

You may need to try another Chiropractor. The one we use told my husband he needed to see a doctor who could order MRI because she wasn't helping his neck pain as much as she should have. Sure enough, he needed surgery and she even told us about someone one of her patients had used.

You really need to find a good sports massage therapist as that will help your adjustments stay in place. You have to get rid of the muscle memory and if you are getting adjusted that much you aren't.
