WPRA Buddy System HELP

Looking at the WPRA rule book as I am wanting to purchase my permit and haul with my husband. My husband is a saddle bronc rider so he is Generally always in a perf. In the rule book it says this
WPRA contestants will compete in the nearest performance or slack the same day PRCA buddy is competing in the first go round only. Back to back rodeos are the exception to this clause. "
What exactly does nearest imply are the chances of us being drawn up togther the same night good or not? " I am just trying to figure out how it is going to possibly work for us. all info is apprciated.

It is probably going to depend on where you are entering. Are you planning to enter mostly the close circuit rodeos, or go to some of the large ones, or both? I believe his PRCA card will be the one you "enter on" so if he gets into the perf, you should be pulled in as well. If you want slack, you will probably want to enter by yourself or with another barrel racer. It's really pretty easy to get up how you want at the circuit rodeos most of the time, but it seems like to me, it is really hard for husbands/wives to travel together to the large rodeos, just because often they are two head in the men's' events but only one round in the barrels, or the slack for the barrels is on like a Tuesday, but the performances don't start until Thursday or Friday...
Keep in mind too, that permits in WPRA take last preference, so even if his card will pull you into a performance, you will most likely be last or close to it on the ground, until you get your permit filled.

Really depends on the rodeo. My daughter has been asked more than once by girls like Brittany Diaz to trade with her when she didn't get the same perf as their husband. They aren't going to draw you into every perf just because your husband is a rough stock rider if that's what your asking. If he is up in a perf that night and slack is that same morning, you could very well draw slack.

Not sure at the bigger rodeos but generally circuit rodeos will put you in the same perf or slack that your husband ends up in. If you do end up in different perfs then they are usually on the same day. For example he may get up in the 2:00 matinee and you in the 8:00 perf. In our circuit they do not usually have more than 5 or 6 bronc riders so they are always in the perf which was actually an advantage to me because my horse always fired harder in front of a crowd. But it may be a disadvantage if you are hauling a young horse or one that prefers slack.

I am just wanting to stay local get my feet wet and some miles under our belt. I just was curious if they have a slack on Tuesday and the perfs are not till Friday Saturday how I would draw up so were not making the trip twice. I would be fine if the slack is say Saturday morning and he was up Friday or Saturday night that would be ideal.
