Pushing from the back end
How do you get your barrel horses to really push from the back end and really use themselves. What essential tools/bits do you love to ride one in? What exercises do you do for open finished horses that need no barrel work and just starting colts? Any tips and tricks?

work all lefts or all rights around as many barrels as you want, I usually do 4-5. Hustle them out of each barrel and then get them to collect before they get to the next, stay collected maintaining the same speed around it and then smooch and make them leave in a hurry. Don't let them speed up around the barrel, I see a lot of girls, lope slow to the barrel and then let the horse speed up and stretch way out around it. I want them to stretch out between, collect and get under them selves, then push off and stretch out leaving.
