Freckles Ta Fame is by DTF and out of a FG daughter. He did fairly well as a futurity colt with Ashley Shaeffer. He then qualified Shali Lord to the Mt States Circuit Finals last October. Ashley made it into the American semi's on him. This past weekend at the ERA rodeo she tipped the first day to tie for the win and was 2nd on the second day. His full sister is also under Ashley and made it to the short go of Diamonds & Dirt. |

Location: north dakota | Frenchmans Guy was #3 on the list of top 20 fututity broodmare sires of 2015. For me a daughter of FG was the number one bloodline I wanted for a broodmare.
This is a neat horse I saw videos of on Facebook.

Location: MN | I wasnt impressed with a filly I started out of a FG daughter. She was by a Smoke N Sparks stud and I had started several of her half siblings by him and they were all super smart and well minded. Caught on quickly. She, on the other hand, was WILD. One day, shed let you catch her in the stall but be a total bronc in the round pen. Other days, youd have to rope her in the stall because shed lash out and try to double barrel kick you. While she was drop dead gorgeous, with a perfect build, she was by far the hardest 2 year old Ive ever dealt with. The poor donkey had his hands full with her! Just my opinion on the one I worked with!

Timmi Ward has a really nice SNS o/o an FG daughter she's running this year. So it worked there.
But I hear you. I bred an FG daughter to SNS and the filly was real flighty. She ended up being 1D but it took some work and time. She didn't run futurities at all. She was 6 or 7 before she made a good horse. I bred the same mare to HAB and that gelding was a good futurity horse and is 7 and still winning the 1D and getting better.
You can't always know what's going to work. It doesn't mean though, that in general FG daughters are no good. It just means that cross doesn't always work.

| It's rather obvious that FG is one of the top broodmare sires. I'd be much more concerned on the sire of the prospects you are looking at. |

Sounds like he is a good broodmare sire. That's good news. I have a filly that has probably suffered an injury that will prevent her from ever running. We are still healing but it doesn't look good. She is a granddaughter of DFP too. I spent a lot of $ in vet bills to save her. I was hoping to breed her a few times to recoup some losses |

I think with time, she would have been awesome, like you said as a 6 or 7 year old. She needed more time than what I was given to work with her! The guy who owned her was a reiner and wanted everything to happen very quickly. She just didnt have the mind to go as fast as he wanted me to. Time is exactly what she needed! On the other hand, the 3 colts BY the same stud (SNS) were AWESOME. Id love to get my hands on another one of those!

Were they all colts and was she the only filly you've had by him? Reason I ask is that sometimes the sex does make a difference. For exampe the track guys love the PYC and Ivory James colts. They don't care too much for the fillies because the fillies tend to be lazy and don't want to really try. |

Yes, she was the only filly. But what youre saying makes total sense! She definately had more of a spit fire, I dont want to do that, bratty attitude towards anything you asked of her. The 3 other colts I worked with were almost too easy. |

The mare has had 5 foals. 2 fillies. The other filly was by HAB and not nearly as flighty. She still had fire but not 24/7.
I completely agree with your assessment of colts vs fillies. The only other one by SNS was a colt and he was a big, dufus. Nice minded and not reactive. But the mare had a totally different mind too. The SNS/FG cross that Timmi Ward is running is a filly. |
