| Okay so....my bf is a trainer, horrible bad back (compressed vertebrae @ L5/6/7 etc) Multiple MRI's, acupuncture, chiro, laser therapy, and most recently a series of 3 injections followed by a Radiofrequency Neurotomy (2 weeks ago today.) So far results are minimal but I have read that it may take a month for nerves to completely die. So...my questions are: 1) How bad is your back 2) What have you had done 3) Did it work?

| Mine is lots of fun, like you've described. I haven't put any real time or money into it, no insurance, but xrays and scans look like a Christmas tree. The best thing I ever did for myself is get down to 23% body fat from 26%, and begin and maintain a running program. I never ever ever pictured myself running, but my back doesn't hurt, so I go. |

Location: wherever my gypsy soul lands | I herniated L1, L3, and L5/S1 when a horse flipped over on me as a teenager. I spent the better part of 3 years barely able to walk. Injections, Chiro, Acupuncture, you name it I tried it. Nothing helped. I was also a little on the chunky side. Finally found the right combo of losing weight, yoga to strengthen my back, injections, and magnetic wraps when I get sore. I still have days where I get out of bed like an old lady(only 25) but I stretch and it works out. I also know my limits and try to not overdo things. |

| Good info, thank you! He did start at the gym with me earlier this year; we will get back to it when he gets home. Glad to hear that just simple excercise/weight loss really helped. |

| I started a weight training program, but it became absolutely miserable. I hurt ALL the time. Gave that up and went with running, I'm here to tell you, it's what makes the difference. Losing weight through nutrition, and the strengthening of pelvic muscles, stabilizing of back muscles through strength that's where it is. Tons of sit ups. Tons of squats.
I've been lax and been out of running a few weeks. I'm going back today. It hurts to stand for very long and I'm sore getting out the truck after a long drive. Back to work! |

This makes perfect sense. Thank you so much for your input, much appreciated. |

I will second this. I hate to run, but its the only thing that has consistently helped my back. |

Location: Oklahoma | We use the BOT back braces for therapy 24/7 ( eventually ) if needed or just at nite and either Sore no more lotion or Magenesium oil. Hubby has a magnetic brace w heavy elastic he uses for a support brace , I use the Copper brace for heavy lifting . The BOT brace is not a support brace . I have worn it riding but not enough if already sore. We now only have to chiro once every 3 mos instead of constantly . It is also important to have high dosage quality Vit C (3000 mg) |

| No the doctor said I was not a candidate for surgery. My upper back was killing me. Turned out it was my neck. The best orthopedic surgeons in the US are in Shreveport LA. These docs work on the too athletes in the US. They fixed me up. I ride better, can works out etc. |

| My lower back is shot from riding. The only thing that help was strengthening it by lifting weights and running. Yes, the chiro was temporary relief but the adjustments would never hold after since the muscles were weak. Minimal to zero back pain with a consistent exercise program

I AM being nice

Location: MD | I was told 22 years ago that I would never ride again. My damage was L4/5 from a horse falling on the landing side of a fence, flipping and rolling end over end with me on board. Chiro/acupuncture, injections, the whole nine. As with most, I had minimal relief. I now find that if I do my yoga morning and night, get at least a weekly massage and always wear proper footwear, I can manage relatively well. I am extremely picky about my boots. Being in the barn and saddle all day, on concrete all day at barrel races, it is amazing how much damage can be done by wearing the wrong boots. I still have pain, often a lot of it, but so long as I make sure to do what I know works, it is no longer debilitating. |

Your experience sounds a lot like my bf-- what kind of boots do you wear?
All-- thank you for your responses. We are going to get serious about yoga/jogging when he gets back. He doesn't know this yet lol...but it's the obvious common thread in your feedback! |

| I bought a BOT blanket, and two sets of polos came free. I've been wrapping the polos around my lower back at night, kind of loosely, and sleeping in them, and I feel like a whole new person.
I've also been doing crossfit and focusing on strengthening my core, rather than using my back for everything. If he can get to the point where that type of exercise is possible, it makes a huge difference. |

Location: CTX | My back is messed up since my teenage years, from several horse wrecks (I am 44 now) and it got to a point where I had pain every day. Tried the chiro for a couple of years, but started to anticipate it and could not relax no matter how much I treid, or nog tried. So it started hurting more to go.... (By the way, he told me after looking at my x-rays I have the back of a 70 year old..... ) Now I have a BOT blanket (for humans)and a BOT back brace, and I do yoga a couple of times a week. Also I sleep with a pillow between my legs, not just my knees, but upper, knees and lower legs. And that helps. Also, I have to make sure I sit up straight, (work at a desk 6-8 hours a day) and I bought my own office chair that forces me to sit up straight. The pain now is a lot better, and there are days I don't have pain at all. I hope you find something that works, because it can be debilitating.

Location: North Dakota | Most of my back pain is centered around my neck but basically the whole upper half of my back and shoulders is in constant pain 24/7 since 2011. It's not just like mildly uncomfortable, it is extremely distracting and I've broken down in tears on SEVERAL occasions from the relentless pain. It's a combination of extremely tight muscles that just do not relax ever and spinal pain. There's shooting pain that feels like fire through my back, there's dull tightness that can get so intense the only thing I can do is lay down with a heat pack under my neck and pass out. My neck cracks like 50 times a day and I get a split second of relief when it does. It developed out of nowhere and nothing shows up on x-rays or MRI. I've had injections, chiro, pt, massage, muscle relaxing meds, you name it I've tried it. NOTHING makes the pain go away.
My pain is different from a lot of peoples in that moving isn't difficult, it's sitting still that hurts. The more active I am, be it yoga, working out, riding, barn chores, etc. the better it feels but it never goes away. Massage and chiro feel wonderful while I'm there but 10 minutes after I leave everything has tensed up and I'm back to square one. Even Cur-Ost, which worked a MIRACLE on my knees, couldn't touch my back pain. I am over weight and D-cup tits to contend with but I've lost over 30lbs and experienced no difference with the pain. I still have about 80lbs to lose so we'll see if it feels any better once I get closer to my goal. I look forward to hearing other responses. |

| I was diagnosed with scoliosis as a teenager. Had the normal horse related accidents throughout childhood and twenties. Had neck surgery at 49 to prevent paralysis. Just finished ulcer treatment and learned that Aleve or Advil on a daily basis causes ulcers.
Back on Track products have really improved my quality of life. I sleep in the T shirt and wear the lower back wrap during the day. |
