Location: somewhere in the south | When you measure out the beet pulp..............is the 4 to 6 lbs a day wet or dry? I'm starting to feed the shreds and want to make sure I do it correctly!! |

| I did it this way first but discovered that I ended up making way more beet pulp than my horses would eat. (I feed hay, too.) The way I make it ends up being 1# dry makes approximately 5# soaked. |

Location: West Texas | I am not personally a fan of beet pulp. Here is some guidelines I found for feeding rates if you are wanting to feed it.
Dried beet pulp weighs 0.6 pounds per dry US quart, so a 2-quart scoop holds about 1.2 pounds. Some guidelines to follow when adding beet pulp to supplement the regular feeding program (meaning that the horse is already receiving at least 0.5% of its body weight daily of a fortified horse feed) are: 1) feed no more than 2 pounds of dried beet pulp daily to a pony or growing horse less than one year of age, 2) feed no more than 4 pounds of dried beet pulp daily to an immature horse from 1 to 3 years of age, and 3) feed no more than 6 pounds of dried beet pulp daily to a mature horse (body weight of 1,200 pounds).

| I feed the shreds also, not every feeding, but kind of on a I think they need basis. I started out weighing it dry and then wetting it but also found that it was way too much for my horses and I was dividing it between 3 horses. |

Location: Texas | My measure cup is 5" tall and 3.5" wide for the dry pulp, not sure what the soaked lbs come out to. I feed it along with Equilene. All the horses look good and like it. *Helpful hint that I found with beet pulp, if you have a horse that isn't drinking on the road you can drain off the water from the soaked pulp. Mine will drink every time. |

Location: somewhere in the south | I've been scooping it out with the Purina scoops that show measurements on the scoop and I think the amount at 2lbs is working pretty good. Thanks for all the info!!! |
