| Tipping and/or pawing their feed pans? I have no way to hang anything on the fence because my pasture is completely hot wired. I feed them on top of rubber mats to help keep the feed off the ground. Soon as I put their feed pans down, they immediately paw and tip them over spilling the grain all over the mat and ground, it infuriates me! I need to figure out something , I feel like so much grain is getting wasted. I'll be building a barn within a few months so that'll solve it but was just wondering if anyone had any tips or ideas too keep them from dumping their feed out and pawing it into the ground |

Location: In The Land of Cotton | I don't do bunk since my neighbor had one get caught under it and died.
Take the bigger rubber pan. Run a bolt about 5 inches long through it. Get a coffee can and fill it full of concrete. Stick the pan with the bolt in it. Dig a hole. Put the can in the hole. They can't tip them over. |

I might give that a shot.. I've got 3 of them laying around. 2 of my horses stick their feet in their pans and then start pawing the feed out, the bigger buckets might help! Thanks! |

ETA: the problem with permanently attaching them to something is if they get full of water or poop, they can't be dumped out.

| I put their mineral blocks in a feed pan inside an old tire... only issue I have with the tires is how full of water they get in the rain and how hard it is to get the water out! And a few neighbors have told me they had a problem with snakes getting in them and horses won't eat. That and yellow jackets made a home out of it before. |

Location: Texas | I got a stall mat and cut it up. bolted tubs to it. The mat is just big enough that my horses will stand on it with their front feet. They can paw all they want but it won't turn over. |

Wow!! Those are cool! I watched the video of the horse, that's exactly EXACTLY, what my horses do to their pans! For $30, I might just place my order!

Wow! My SO made some of these out of wood....had them for years! It only takes 4 boards that are 2x6's or you could probably use old trailer floor boards. He also used our old trailer boards and made a feed trough so they wouldn't go to waste. |

My hubby is pretty handy and can build just about anything, it's just getting him to actually do it... as in, I'm still waiting for my custom made trash can he promised ohhh, 5 years ago lol! |

Location: Where the pavement ends and the West begins Utah | Screw the rubber feeder to the rubber mats. Use the large deep ones so they can't nose it out. Someone used plywood with same results. |
