Location: West Texas | With the choices list, I would probably choose Ultium, cost and other factors not considered.
I do have a question, what do you consider low carb and why are you looking for low carb. I assume this is for competition barrel horses. |

| If I had to pick one from your list it would probably be the ultium. It is LOWER carb and sugar than SOME but is certainly not "Low". I try and keep it molasses free but my off the track youngster was fed so much CANDY ( Ie, 10 -12 pounds a DAY of Purina Omelene 200) that now he really doesn't like anything without molasses. Whole grain diet made him nuts, Ultium made him nuts, so I feed a local milled feed that is 11% NSC with out molasses and 15% with. SOOOOOO I mix half and half and he eats it right up. LOL His attitude and demeanor have calmed down SO MUCH since I have had him on this mix. Its 7% fat. THey look and feel amazing. |

Location: Salem Ky | Just switched my horses over to Tribute Calm and Ease. After seeing a horse I sold, gain weight after two weeks of being on it. I tried several types of feed on him, oil, etc, etc. With no real luck. Had a mare who lost just a bit of weight, cause she would rather eat grass that is a 1/2" tall, then eat hay. In two weeks on Tribute, she is back up to her good weight. I now have her on 2lbs of Tribute. It is $15 something a bag here. I think it is worth it.

Have you tried Purina Strategy Healthy Edge? It's high fat but no molasses. It's kind of a step down from Ultium. It not far. One that I had that was kind of spunky on Ultium was fine on HE |

I hadn't tried it. I think I saw it at tractor supply. I am actually going to give the Renew Gold another try. I used it before and didn't see the results and my horses did not do well on it. But now that their hind gut is working better and I finally found a great source of good alfalfa I picked up 2 bags today. Going to give it a month. Then if it doesn't work I will try healthy edge. |

I only feed RG to my young crowd. The old girl gets purina sr. I feef my yearling 6oz and the 7 and 8 year old 8oz per feeding. I do add Omnis cubes to it, but that is the only grain they get. |

| There KISS method is the best thing you can do for your horse. Keep it natural. I feed Steam Rolled Oats, Alfalfa Pellets and 1/2 pound of Renew Gold. I add Vitalize High Performance. |

I feed the healthy edge... But very moist and tends to clump.. I'm making the switch over to blue bonnet. |

| My main reason for giving the RG another try is I believe one of my horses is very sensitive to Molasses/Starch. He did good on the whole grain diet (Oats/Barley/Rice bran) but didn't look like I wanted him to. I went to a nice low starch, locally safe milled feed that is 15% NSC. THey look outstanding but one of mine is kind of showing ulcer sensitivity now. BUT, with curost I have got my horses hind guts working good SO I am going to give RG a try again. Its readily available here in CA so I really hope it works. |
