I'm currently using Lasix, flair strips , and equip-resp treatments (yeah I know I'm not too sure about jumping on the band wagon but he is doing better on them).

Haven't had a bleeder in a good while and wanted to make sure I haven't missed any new articles, dos n don'ts, research, etc....

Please share your routines

My mare has iad and started bleeding this spring (long story short -- she has a lot of health issues and this is her first year being healthy enough to really run hard). She has a compromised immune system so lasix MUST be a last resort for her.

Currently we (my vet and I) are trying a few different options;
-no shavings in trailer (I haul in soft rides)
-no feeding in trailer
-soaked cubes in place of hay OR slow feed net (I use these all the time, including my large rounds at home)
-pull feed and water 3-4 hours prior to a run

She also runs on Oxy O2, equi resp and flair strips.
Since we started pulling feed and water she has shown zero signs of bleeding, not so much as a cough. We are planning to scope next run in hopes that what we are doing is indeed working and we can avoid lasix.

How long did you use the regen an make runs on it? I've not heard good reports from others.

I use Oxygen bleeder stop, oxygen 2X and OxyO2. I was able to get off lasix completely after a month on these products.

I had her on it for 10 days when I started weaning her off the lasix. I also feed the Vitalize High Performance. And got her off all processed feeds. Anytime a horse bleeds ,there is damage to the lungs. The lungs have to have time to heal. That is why they tell you to give Uniprim,and to not ride the horse. Most vets say for a month. They are using Equine Regen on the track and having good results.
