Expert Posts: 1343 Location: East Texas	Flies and gnats are terrible and I have using fly masks during the day. Do you leave your masks on when there is a possibility of rain (and they are turned out)?

Veteran Posts: 187	I take mine off every night and the possiblity of rain/storms. If its really muddy out I also leave them off, as my mare will roll and gets it in her eye.

Too Skinny Posts: 8009 Location: LA Lower Alabama	Try to get a good brand because they are stiffer and much better at staying off of their face. Also watch for rubbing. I suggest off at night and off durning rain. They do block some vision.

Elite Veteran Posts: 788	If you buy a good brand then they shouldnt ever mash down on their eyes. But you do have to clean them every once in a while or they will get filled with dirt from them laying down.

I do bring him up almost everyday and check on it, but he's turned out 24/7. I do keep it clean as well, dirt will dry up on it.

Once it gets hot and it rains they will stay moist and cause dermatitis/rain rot/other face sores...which draws EVEN MORE flies.

All of mine have 2 so that if when I bring them up to feed at night they have them covered in mud or what not I can switch it out for a clean one and scrub that one up and hang to dry for the next switch. Everyone is right, stick to the better quality ones and they should have no problem. I just picked up some cashel ones that I really like.
