Considering purchasing a playday horse that is slightly pigeon toed on right front. Doesn't seem to bother him, but I was wondering what everyone's experience was with this?  I'm only planning on high loping, nothing more.

I have had a few pigeon toed horses and I never had any problems with them.  All that I had sure could run.

He should be fine. As long as he seems to move well I dont think you will have any problems. Iv seen several horses that were slightly pigeon toed that did really well. The only thing that kind of puzzles me is it is only on one foot? Most of the time its both.

Just the one.  I know, strange.  I'm going to try him on Saturday.  He's been out to pasture for two years. Should be an interesting day.  *Looking for a crash helmet.*

My main mare is slightly pigeoned toed on her left front. It causes her to paddle slightly, but doesn't affect her at all. My trainer recommends I run her with SMB type boots on the front, in the event she ever intereferes (has never) just as a precaution. But I run her with no issue.

My mares legs are crooked. At a trot you can really tell. She swings them out. They have never been a problem for her. We did playdays and later hauled just about every weekend with her and she's always did fine.

I ran a horse that was literally pigeon toed and bow legged. But he hit the ground and stood flat.  I was told that was his saving grace.  Never had any issues other than he also had bad knees that much later on caused him soreness.

My best horse in my life is pigeon toed. I actually prefer them! It's strange that the one you're talking about only has one but trim or shoe like they stand. The only other thing is be concerned about is how they are thru the knee. My horse's knees are straight.

Should be fine.
FYI- if you buy this horse?
Do Not Let the fattier try to straighten the legs when showing or trimming.
Adult Legs or bones are set.
Shoe em like they stand.

My pigeon toed horse is the best one I have ever owned, and by far the most sound. I have NEVER had any issues with her, and we are going on 15 years together now. She is the horse in my little "profile picture" on here...

When I was showing as a youth, some of the BEST movers in the pen were pigeon toed. They wouldn't win a halter class, but boy they were smooth lookin' horses in pleasure and were normally at the top of the judges card.

Yes! This is true for my mare as well.

Cheers to pigeon toed horses! lol

A friend of mine told me recently "your horse is sightly pigeon toed, I bet thats why he can run so fast". I had never noticed that he was, I guess because it is so minimal, but she insisted that every pigeon toed horse she ever had been around could FLY!

My grandson's 22 year old play day horse is pigeon toed and he hasn't missed a beat. He has never been lame and I guess has just dealt with it all his life and adjusted himself so it doesn't bother him.
