So my 2014 colt can start doing futurities after December 1 of 2018? Do you enter BFA World after doing futurities for their whole first year or is that their first competition run, at BFA World?

| You can begin entering Dec 1 2017. You can enter the Juvenile when they are still 3. Then you run all the futurities in 2018 and enter the BFA in the actual futurity that december. If that makes sense. |

| You cannot enter your 3 year old ANYWHERE before then. if you compete on your futurity prospect anywhere before that date it is no longer eligible for futurity completion. At least that was always my understanding, but I am no expert, just had a few nominated when I bought them. |

I think if you run the juvenile just after December 1, 2017 (as a 3 year old) you can't run the BFA 4 year old futurity the following year. If I am thinking correctly, the juvenile run would disqualify you from the BFA 4 year old futurity because you would be running before the December 1, 2018 date.
You can run in the juvenile in 2017 then run in all the 4 year old futurities in 2018 up to the November 30th date when your horse wouldn't be a futurity horse anymore. Where the BFA is concerned you would have to run the derby in December 2018. Clear as mud? |

No it doesn't disqualify you from the 4 yr old futurity as long as u don't run before 12/1 of your horses 3 yr old year.
Sorry I didn't see the age of the OP's horse but all u have to remember Is don't compete before 12/1 of your horse's 3 yr old year

You're right. I wasn't thinking correctly. Carry on.  We run 5 year olds up here. So I never really explored that in detail.  |
