Would anyone be willing to share their travel itinerary for their trip to Yellowstone? I am considering going in mid-September. Would also like to visit other places nearby, within 100-200 mile radius.

Yellowstone was awesome. I also enjoyed Beartooth pass. I think it is about 11,000ft. If you go through Cody, the museum was pretty interesting. I think they have the largest collection of US made guns anywhere. Lots of western painting, photos, art, etc. If you are a history buff and passing through, the Little Bighhorn Battlefield park might be worth it.

Just don't put any bison calves in the back of your SUV and haul it to the ranger station to save it from the cold.

All of these are really good.  The Fetterman Massacre site is pretty cool too.  Just south of Sheridan, Wyoming.

There are so many things to do around that area.  Cody, Jackson, Thermop, Buffalo, Sheridan.  How much time do you have?

Jackson Hole is a must see.  I thought Teton National Park was better than Yellowstone.

We spent 2 days there.  The first day we came in and drove around 1/2 of it and visited Old Faithful.  The second day we drove around the north half.  It was a LONG drive at 45mph. Hayden valley was amazing.  Our big moment was going on a trailride just outside of the park in MT.

LMAO. It was trending on FB yesterday.  Some foreign tourists were lucky they weren't gored by a piffed mama.

Freaking city folk tourist! Wouldn't it have poetic justice had Mama taken issue?

I just read that after extended efforts to get the calf back into the herd, the mother rejected it and it was euthanized.  :( This was posted on the Yellowstone National Park FB page.

Stupid freaking people need to be euthanized.

That's very close to the exact route we took in the same amount of days only backwards.

Make sure you hit Devils Tower monument.  That's amazing!  DO the walk around the base.
Not sure where you'll cross, but the Bighorn Mountains are beautiful! We went through Buffalo.

Deadwood is a cool place, but we just drove through. We were going to go back this summer, but a few things at home made us change our minds for this summer.  Mt. Rushmore is cool too.  Make sure you see the Crazy horse monument.  We were going to hit Bear Country attraction this summer as well.

We are going this year too. First Cheyenne for Frontier Days Sun and Mon. Then driving up to Jackson Tues AM. Will stay in Jackson until Fri afternoon. All the hotels in Yellowstone were already booked, so we'll just have to drive back and forth from Jackson. Planning to see Hayden Valley and the central plateau. Everyone recommends the Beartooth highway but I don't think we'll have enough time to do it.

Yellowstone is 4.5 hours from Salt Lake, most of it not being very scenic.   I'd try flying into Cody or Jackson if possible.

If you are near the north entrance, Chico Hotsprings is cool.  If you like to fish...go to West Yellowstone or fish the Yellowstone river near Gardiner.

I picked SLC because it's $198 a person, verses $450-500 a person through Cody, Jackson, or Billings.

If you make it to west Yellowstone Quake Lake is cool. There is a visitor center that tells about the earthquake that created it.
