Location: Georgia | Is there another company that does hair analysis that is more cost efficient? I would like to have something similar to this done on two horses but cannot spend $185 a horse. |

| Curious, what info do you receive from a typical hair analysis? I've had them done by a specific company as a representation of which of their products they recommend you feed, but that's as far as my knowledge/experience goes.... |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | Save your money. There's nothing useful in horsehair analysis.
It's snake oil quackery. I wouldn't spend $5 on it. |

Location: 31 lengths farms | I certainly wouldn't recommend it in place of a vet diagnosis, but it can help dig a little deeper. My little mare with the kidney stones we also found had an immune deficiency and lymph system was compromised. My big mare with head shakers I had done because I wasn't a fan of the side effects of the Cyproheptadine that she was on to help, HHA popped on her TMJ points, put her on a supplement for inflammation and haven't had too many issues since putting her on one, though we have changed what she is on. |

You are 100% wrong. There is absolutely no way whatsoever you can learn anything remotely useful about anything to do with either the immune or lymphatic system through horsehair analysis.
Now, that doesn't mean an anti inflammatory medication or supplement of some sort doesn't work. You don't need horse hair analysis to determine whether or not it might help. Like I said, I wouldn't pay even $5 to have it done. If a person is foolish enough to spend $185 on it, I pity them.
This is a good thread if it serves to warn people that HHA is a complete ripoff. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | Here's a fairly thorough article dealing with hair analysis. It's a very popular quack tool. Lot's of litigation has emerged from the fraudulent practice:

Here's more:

Now it is used in forensic medicine, most notoriously certain heavy metals such as arsenic. If you are curious about arsenic poisoning, then by all means, break a leg.
