We have found a house and are waiting for a closing date! We will be between Salina and Marion. Does anyone live nearby? I have never lived or worked where I didn't know anyone! Looking forward to new scenery and new arenas. I've lived my entire life in SW Kansas.

I grew up in Enterprise, went to school in Chapman and Abilene is where we did all of our shopping, etc. I go up there now almost every other week to work on cleaning my dad's house out and getting it ready to sell.

Abilene is a REALLY neat little town, I think. Good places to eat, neat shopping - try Cypress Bridge for candles, home decor and Tracine's Treasures for jewelry. The people there are so friendly too.

I will warn you, there aren't a lot of barrel races around there - in fact, hardly ANY. Some of those folks drive clear to the Wichita area (100 miles south, which is where I live now) to compete.

My husband is from Hillsboro. We lived there for about the first 8 months we were married. The drive on Hwy 15 (I think) from Hillsboro to Abilene is gorgeous! Enjoy the area!

I think Canton has lots of ropings and rodeos throughout the summer!

Thank you! I don't mind the driving as long as I can get back into racing! We've done a little bit of exploring and can't wait to do more.

KS Nbha 05 has quite a few races in Salina and some in Abilene barrel racing wise. If you do rodeo I compete in a bunch of the Kraft open rodeos, they all seem to be around the central KS area. I do have to say though Abilene cute little town and has a ton of stuff to do, I just graduated from Chapman, not much to do there but it's a great town.

Thanks! I don't have a rodeo horse yet; still stuck in the 4D but we don't get to many races right now. I do plan to join NBHA and will check out the rodeos.
