Location: midwest mama | I notice that a lot of the trailer manufacturers are now making Living Quarters trailers that are less than 7' wide. Can someone please tell me the reasoning behind this? Doesn't it make the trailer longer?

Location: Jersey Girl | I wouldn't go less then 6'9" in a LQ. A couple of inches makes a difference in living space IMO.
If I ever get another LQ, I am going to move up to an 8ft wide. |

Location: Oklahoma | No, it does not make a trailer longer. Many companies are starting to offer LQ's in these widths because they are more the "economy" line of trailers. Most are a little cheaper to build than the 7'-8' wide trailers. 4-Star offers a Runabout LQ now that is 6'10" wide and can go up to 26'6" in length. They cap out at 7k axles though. |

| I have a 6'9 with a LQ and I absolutely love love love it! It's big enough to stay in for several days and it's small enough to use every day. The horses have plenty of room and are very comfortable and I have no problem with fitting everything I need.
My friends have a massive LQ that they can only take certain places because it is so big. They tow a crappy stock trailer most of the places they go. If I'm paying on something I darn sure want to be able to use it. |

| I just sold my Platinum 7' wide trailer simply because my horses were cramped in there! The foot definitely makes a huge difference in the LQ and Horse area - also the tack area. I didn't think it would be a big deal at first but I hated it.
I would go with an 8' if at all possible. |

Location: Alberta, Canada | We have a 7' wide and I would never go narrower! The horse area is ok because the slant is longer so the stalls are comparable to an 8 wide, but when I get into an 8 wide living quarter I notice the difference! We'll be upgrading soon! |

Location: CTX | Our old trailer was 6'9, and we upgraded to an 8' and I love the extra space it gives us. My ponies are not the biggest, but they seem to have so much more room even with the mangers.
I will not get anything else anymore. |

| In laws have an elite that is less than 7' wide, not sure exactly.
It works but they'd go wider to do it again. The difficulty in the LQ is that if the couch is folded down to a bed you can't get out of the nose without stepping on it, so in the middle of the night you're crawling over everyone if you have to pee.
It does pull well with their short bed truck. I only say that because the second time pulling my new 8' wide Lakota, the SO blew the back window out turning around in the driveway. Tomorrow I will hopefully be coming home with a long bed.
LOVE the 8' wide though. I went without a slide out and I have plenty of space for 2-3 adults to stay comfortably. |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | The Pros is it is easy to pull especially on farm roads. You can see around it and don't have to worry about taking someone out while changing lanes.
The LQ's works fine if you haul by yourself but is tight if you go with other people.
The slants are longer so the horses are fine in mine.
We are thinking of using ours as a travel trailer and we are thinking of getting a 6'9" with a slide. I really don't want to give up the ease of going down the road but want to add a cooktop and bigger fridge.
