Hey everyone. I bought myself another horse today. I need that like another hole in my head haha. Anyway he's a 4 year old grey gelding and he had one start on the track, was sent to a barrel trainer, started on the pattern and taught all the bells and whistles. He's gonna be NICE!! He's 15.2 and lanky. I know a lot of it is his build, but other than riding and lots of trotting is there anything else to help make him fill out more? I'm used to a short fat tank of a horse. Thanks in advance!

I'd say it's just his age and he'll fill out in no time. You may be able to use Cool Calories. Not sure if that's useful for a growing boy though so someone correct or clarify me if I'm wrong!

THE Equine Edge Muscle Mass will help. California Chrome and American Pharoah used it.

Trail and pasture ride him for hours while getting in rhythm with him and getting cued in to each other ..... and feed him accordingly .... you want him legged up and in shape and looking like an athlete..... not a fat stall potato ... lol

Most instant fattening supplements are water retainers and not muscle makers ... only exercise will build his muscle frame and that will keep him sound more than anything else you can do ...

Tractor supply has a fat supplement I swear by! It's affordable as well. Here's a few before and after pics....about 30 days differance. It's Dumor Weight Booster

Oh wow! I love that bay!! I'll try to attach a picture of him because he is built very similar. I'll try to get better pictures tonight when I get him home.

Be sure that you are dosing him correctly when deworming.....I figured that out and all of a sudden almost all of mine look 100% better!  The bigger horses just need more (wormer and feed)
Before-as a 3 yr old and then at 7:

Enough calories, good nutrition from those calories, and time will bring out the best in him. I am not a fan of weight gainer supplements of any kind, usually. The cool calories, oils, and weight builder supplements are very expensive for the gain you receive, and especially when compared to highly nutritive feed sources. Usually just feeding more of good feed is the answer. If not then it is likely a digestive system issue and good digestive supplements may help. I prefer prebiotics to probiotics. Finally, teeth and worming of course, but to me those are usually contributing factors and rarely the main or entirety of the issue.

I second DAC Bloom & Oil. Also look into the DDA (Digestive Feed Additive). It helps the horses gut & helps them really use the feed they are already getting.

An older gentleman told me once, if you take the leftover feed in his trough and rub it down his back, it would make him fat.   So the lesson in that was, if you give one good feed and enough of it they will gain weight.
