Overreaching in the back...Boots question

My mare when she runs over reaches in the back and ends up nicking above her back hoofs. I was wondering if there was different kind of boots for the back or if bell boots work for both front and back? Also, where to buy. Thanks!

Talk to your farrier ....
Your mare is slower in turning over her front feet than in the back feet.
The back foot is landing in the front track as the front foot is barely airborne ... hence you get a front toe nicking the rear coronet band area ....

Front toes may be too long .... there two other things that happen with the same cause as toes get longer .... you will hear the rear shoe click the front shoe during a stride ..... the 3rd worse .. is rear overreaching and gouging the heel of the front foot or pulling a front shoe off ...

If your mare wings or paddles on the front feet it slows the turnover and this can also create the problems described above ..
If horse is a winger ... the left front will actually nick the right rear foot due to the swinging action of the front foot ...

A good farrier can make some small adjustments ... a lot of them go to sleep and start fitting a horses foot to the shoe rather than the shoe to the foot ....
