I have one that isn't liking her supplement, so I add a dash of vegetable oil to the grain, mix it up to coat it, then mix in the supplement so it sticks. She will clean it right up. But if it's too dry and doesn't all stick she will walk away from all of it.

My ulcer prone mare gets 1/4 cup of aloe vera juice to help the supplement stick to the feed and she is very picky also but cleans the bucket now.

Mix it with a little soaked beet pulp or alfalfa pellets and then mix that with your feed.

My mare was having nothing to do with any of the ideas already posted. I ended up getting a big syringe ( without the needle) and mixing the   supplement in a little applesauce then squirt it into her mouth. After a few times she quite liked it, but still would walk away if I tried to top dress it on her feed.

I had one like this and gave up trying to get her to eat it with food.  Too many wasted meals.  Syringe, re-evaluate if you really need this supp, look for an injectable version.

I've had to like start with a teaspoon!  Don't change the feed up for picky ones if you have a powder start moistening the feed before adding a supplement to get them use to that consistency.

Start with a small amount PLUS add some molasses to it.

Well I have one of those picky ones. I started out with half commercial feed and half alfalfa pellets. Then gradually switched over to Timothy pellets and a handful of commercial feed. Now he eats just Timothy pellets. I give herbs. He didn't want those to begin with but I used a tiny bit and increased it over about a weeks time. Now he eats it all!! Yay!

What supplement? When I was treating my mare with THE ulcer stuff, I just syringed it to her. When I started feeding forco I started off with a tiny amount and then built up to the normal. I did the same with amplify. It took a few months to reach the recommended amount. My mare is so picky I can't mix bute in a coffee can for someone else and then use the same coffee can for her grain the next day.

My mare is very ulcer prone and is sometimes picky with her food. I add a cup of aloe vera juice and she eats it right up. You can buy it for like $6 a gallon at Walmart in the pharmacy area. It is a good all around thing for them and it helps with ulcers.
