Location: Never in one place long | What do you do to lose weight and stay fit? I'm in my early 30's and not fat but have some fat on my stomach, thighs and hips that I can't seem to keep off. I never drink pop and mainly drink water all day with maybe 1/2 glass coffee..I don't eat much candy or sweets and eat tons of fruits and vegetables, I also eat a fair amount of dairy and grains..I do eat quite a bit but not what I'd consider a ton. I am vegetarian. I run in 5ks, at a minimum walk/run 2.5 miles a day, ride horses, run all over with my dogs etc. I do have an office job so I sit quite a bit but even go walk dogs over my lunch break instead of sitting around eating. I also always eat a high protein breakfast. I would like to lose about 10-15 lbs but can't seem to! I am literally on the go from 6:00am-10:30pm and NEVER sit down to watch tv or relax.. Anyone have advice?

| I would start off by tracking your food, you're may be eating more calories than you think. I know that I'm always shocked at how quickly calories can add up!
I think people also have a tendency to over-estimate how active they are (not saying this is what you're doing), but being "busy" does not equal being active.
I've started following IIFYM (if it fits your macros) and have added weight lifting into my routine and the results have been great! |

And the most important thing is, are you healthy? I think America as a whole cares to much about weight and about appearances. You don't have to be pencil thin to be healthy. |

I think I'm very healthy as far as that goes, I'm not on any medications nor have I ever been, I get sick maybe 1-2 days a years and usually just a cold. I feel pretty great, not always the most energy but overall well but I'm not happy with my weight, I'd like to be on the thinner side, not pencil thin but thinner! |

| At my gym they always say flat stomachs are made in the kitchen not in the gym. You can not spot train fat off in those areas but you can build muscle. To get rid of the fat you have to cut out all white starches, cards , most grains, most surpga y fruit - have a very strict eating program. My stomach will always be fat :). |

my stomach will always be fat, too. But the others are right...cut down any processed foods. If you are vegetarian this means more fiberous plants and plants in their natural state. Forget the crackers and processed stuff like pasta. Any refined sugar will have to go.
For those on Paleo (like myself) I am trying to eat more vegetables and less meat since really if you were primitive I am assuming the nomadic lifestyle produced a successful hunt 1/10 times like a lion or wolf.
But I am in the same boat as you...the more I try to lose weight the more I lose in my face, legs, butt, boobs...and my stomach is still 1-2 sizes bigger than the rest of me, no matter if I lose or gain a size. So frustrating! If you find the way to "spot lose" weight (without gimmicks or drugs) let me know! Good luck and I'm cheering you on! |

| A year ago I lost 100 pounds on medi fast but I have maintained that weight loss by weighing every day and eating lots of small meals daily with only one big one. Lol |

| Wait to you hit that 60 year mark!! When I was 30's/40's I had no trouble keeping my weight down. I had trouble when I hit 50, started going to Curves and watching what I ate. Was doing pretty good till I hit my 60's and it has been a battle ever since. I have IBS among other things like muscle aches, joint aches, etc. I started taking the CurOst for Humans about a month or so ago. Starting to feel better but not there yet. I have my good days and bad days. With the IBS I am still learning what to eat and what not to eat. It is sometimes a real "challenge" in the mornings when I have to got to the barn, get ready for work and I can't walk out the door because of stomach issues. Not fun getting "older", it is not for the faint of heart!! |

Location: Phoenix | You might try the 21 Day Fix, or adopt the concept of containers. I've attached the container count for my weight bracket (135). I'm supposed to do 3 veggies, 2 fruit, 2 carbs, 4 protein, 1 healthy fat, 1 seed/dressing, 1 oil. I was eating WAY too many carbs. I mean, a sandwich ate up all my carbs for the day! I really like the workouts. They are low impact and incorporate weights (which it turns out I LOVE) and minimal cardio. I'm really liking it. I'm not losing weight, but rather replacing fat with muscle and toning down. I don't have a lot of extra weight to lose though....I think my body likes being at its current state/stature.

       Location: ~Kansas~ | I have lost 70 by eating lower carb/high protein.
I also weigh my protein as I wasn't eating enough protein
I work out 5x a week-2x a week with a PT
My suggestion would be to make sure your portions are correct and might weigh your protein.
I started keeping a food journal as well to help keep track of everything I eat.

| I keep checking this thread for the secret magic cure!
I use to be able to lose weight without trying! But the last few years have been challenging...these 10 pounds feel like they're sticking around for good! I never had a belly before... I miss my abs, lol!
I eat healthy, am active, burn a ton of calories daily but I think it's a dramatic increase in stress (there's been some life changing situations) that is the culprit. I've started to focus on cutting back on calorie intake and committing to working out with weights.
The worst part is really wanting to see immediate results!! I did a push up, I should have muscles lol!!
Don't give up, seems like there's a bunch us in the same boat! Make changes and stick with it, we can do this!

| Have you heard about Thrive by Le-vel. Its premium supplements that fill in the nutritional gaps that we all have regardless of how healthy, unhealthy, fat, or skinny we may be. A lot of personal trainers, body builders, and doctors take the products as well as every day joe shmoes who see great results! Aside from losing weight/inches, I feel SOOOOOO much better since I began taking Thrive! |
