Injury advice.... Torn Hamstring / Semitendinosus

So 4 weeks ago my horse got his head caught in a panel of a hay ring some time during the night, he wasn't found until late the next morning. Still with the panel around his neck, and terrified. He banged up all four of his legs pretty good, and it took about 3 weeks for the swelling to disappear. But, I knew something wasn't right with his right hind
(I thought it was something with his stifle, there is a still a small fluid pocket on the inside of that leg, near the stifle
). So I took him in to be examined this week, and it turns out he tore his hamstring
(nothing wrong with the stifle, thank goodness
). The vet says 3-6 months rest, stall during the day, small solitary paddock at night. Of course, I want to speed the healing process as much as I can, so I just bought a PHT sheet, hoping that will help. But I wanted to know if anyone has experienced this, or even if you haven't, any suggestions, tips, etc.?

Try private messaging TACKyPaints. Her mare tore her hamstring last fall coming out of bladder stone surgery. She is back riding her, I"m sure she'd have some great ideas for what to do for your horses on the hamstring.

We had one that got really sore in his hamstrings
(didn't ever tear one
) and shockwave therapy helped him immensely. I would definitely visit with your vet about it, but it may help with maintenance in the future. Good Luck!
