I lost my old gelding last week and saved some of his tail hair. I didn't save alot as I couldn't bring myself to cut it off. I'd like to have a something made out of it but not sure where to look. Thanks!

So sorry for your loss.
Not trying to hyjack your post, but I had to lay my old mare to rest last week, and would like to know too.
I did save some of her tail and mane, but not sure if I can use the manes for something.

Sorry for your loss as well. In all my years of horse ownership I've never had to put one down. I was planning on letting him go this fall. He had a few hind leg injuries and wasn't sound and had quite a bit of arthritis. Last Thursday he injured himself so badly that I just made the decision then.

Sorry to both of you for your losses.  I have two bracelets made by a lady in Ohio that came out absolutely beautiful.

She does custom horse hair jewelry and keychains and are really pretty affordable IMO.

I've had my eye on her webpage for awhile. Her stuff looks really nice, I have some hair sitting also.  She makes things you can hang for your reivew mirror, I love that idea.

We had mine and my daughters horses put down on the same day Oct 2015. I got these made for us. Mine is for the rear view mirror and hers is the bracelet. She wears it daily all day besides while swimming or showering and they have held up awesome for almost 8 months. Prices are very reasonable

edited to add. We also got my husband a key chain made from my daughters horses tail for fathers day and it was awesome! don't have pictures of that one.

Equine keepsakes!

Sorry for your loss. I had three bracelets made from Enter At A LLC on Facebook. They are in a leather cuff and I liked that they were different, you can customize the leather colors. I believe she also makes the plain braid ones. I thought they were reasonably priced (around $35 when I got them) and turnaround time was fast.

They require a certain amount of hair, but I've always thought that these statues were a nice idea.

You can customize it for your horse and there's even barrel racing ones.

Thank you. This was the first time for me to have to make the decision. I was somehow hoping she would give me a sign, but this stubborn gritty mare was still full of pi$$ and vinegar. Unfortunately the arthritis just was too much. I had her injected last fall, and it gave her relief to the point of her being able to move, albeit a bit stiff.... she started hurting a lot more over the last couple of weeks, and it just didn't seem fair to her to keep trying. She was on 2gr of bute a day in the end....  and the last couple of days she was almost 3-legged.... So I know it was the right thing to do. But darn it, it hurts to loose her....
