Location: the end of the rainbow | Β Or are clinics getting really expensive. I just saw an ad for an $850 2 day clinic. Even the $200 to audit seems pricey to me. I love clinics but lately I feel like my budget just can't stretch for some of the really good ones. |

Location: Canada | It would depend on how many are in the clinic and who the clinician is. If it's a good clinician and a smaller group I'd pay the extra money. If there is 20+ people in the clinic then no I probably wouldn't bother going for $800+.

| Yep, I was looking on an NFR girl's page looking for clinic info and she wants $100/hour for private lessons. That may not be outrageous, but it took me aback a little. |

| thats ridiculous... people are better off finding a reputable trainer close by and getting weekly lessons. It sticks with you and your horse a lot better. |

Location: where the wind blows | Ctdrumrn If you haven't been to Paul's before you are in for a treat. Love, love, love his clinics. I've hauled 14 hours one way to go to one when I couldn't get him up to Canada. Working on getting him back up here.
For me it would depend on how many in the clinic as well. I just paid $450 for a 3 day clinic with Jim Anderson (he won road to the horse). We only rode once a day for about 2.5 hours but only 3 at a time. I am able to grasp watching others ride as well so I sat and watched the rest of the groups so for me it was worth every penny. He helped me get over a big issue with spinning on my reining mare and some tools for her sliding stop and dropping her shoulder.
If there were 20 plus no way. $200 to audit also seems a bit steep. Don't think I'd pay it. I'd prefer to put the money into a dvd that I could watch numerous times as you can only grasp so much in a session. At the Jim Anderson clinic I took notes like crazy after every session I rode in and while watching the rest.

Location: Oklahoma | I was really impressed with Ed Wright clinic. He didn't charge for audits and he included everyone! and he also gave each person with horse the attention and didn't stop til they got it unless they wasn't trying. |

That's about $60/hour for saddle time plus another 16 or 17 hours of watching and learning. I'd jump on that in a heartbeat and really feel like I was really getting my monies worth. Sounds like a great clinic. |

| Yes it is! OT but I've gotten more and more realistic with my expectations for barrel racing and such after I my Masters and getting a real job. I used to want to buy a finished awesome barrel horse, but now I really like to buy a cheaper but nice prospect that I can train for barrels just to go have fun on and show locally, and something that may've come off of a ranch that I can go check cows on and just trail ride! |

| I think you can find for $350-$500 pretty reputable names with a good solid history of training MANY quality horses to clinic with.
I will spend that to add to my training toolbox.
North of that I'd have to be having a pretty serious issue that I really felt this person was the only one who could help me with it and it would have to be a small group lots of 1 on 1 time type clinic. Even then....that would reeeeeeally be a stretch, I don't see that happening. |

Location: New Mexico | Ed Wright's clinics were awesome! We took our daughters, and our granddaughter is just starting and I just knew we would be taking her...so sad he is gone. I know he is in a better place but he sure left a hole in the barrel racing world. |

Location: TX | I've been to two Dena Kirpatrick and Ian Francis clinics and I would do it again in a heartbeat. Both were 3 days and these clinics have paid for themselves over and over again. What I learned from them absolutely changed my riding skills for the better. We spend tons and tons on training our horses.. why shouldn't we get help and training occasionally? |

How much individual time did you get at this clinic. I went to a Dena clinic and liked her but only rode twice a day in two days. And my mare worked very nice so my rides were about 10 minutes. I was thinking of this clinic with her and Ian but $850 is a lot of momey to worry about getting your money's worth. |

just finished up the Paul Humphrey clinic yesterday. Can I say it is the best clinic I have ever gone too. Lots of riding, great drills that you understand why they work. I usually come home from one feeling like I didn't accomplish much but not this time. can't wait until the next one. He is so nice, answers all your questions and will tell you how it is if he doesn't like what you are doing but in a nice way. His prices will be going up next year but just so worth it. |

Location: Sunnyland Florida | I think $850 for a clinic is outrageous, unless they are putting me and my horses up in a 5-star hotel and paying for meals at 5-star restaurants, and most important --- making my coffee.

Location: Stuck in a cubicle having tropical thoughts | I figure for the same amount of money you spend on a 2-3 day clinic, you can just as easily send the horse to the trainer for 30 days which is exactly what I did last year. And during those 30 days, I went and rode the mare with him two different times. This was much better for me and the mare than just a couple days. Although the trainer I sent her to also does clinics and I hear his clinics are fantastic and cost about $350ish |
