The girls on the gymnastics team are FIERCE! And the swimmer Ludecky(?), is so strong, physically and in her beliefs. She is NOT letting the Russian swimmer who was banned from competition for juicing, off the hook. She not only called her out, she beat her! USA also won bronze in the individual eventing.
So far I think it has been a really good Olympics.

Feel free to correct me, but I thought it was King who called out Efimova and took gold and Meili took third in the same race? Go team USA

Love Michael Phelps! I really liked the way he handled being taunted by the guy who beat him last olympics. Just ignored him and then killed it in the finals! But the one that I really liked was a girl from the USA who finished 3rd behind Ludecky. She was sooo happy and thankful. These athletes are just so amazing. Many of them will get no recognition or very little. But just like u,s they are out there slugging away trying to be the best they can be at their chosen event. It is really inspiring! We have had some girls ask about motivation, I know watching the Olympics this year is inspiring me to get back at it. This is truly sports at its best. Even the men's basketball team is having a blast supporting other athletes.
Oh, and what about the beach volleyball player, jeeze, her name has slipped away from me, the one who has never lost a game at the Olympics, her partner was Misti Mays until Misti retired. Anyway, she is 39 I believe and had to switch to the right side for her new partner and they are just storming through and expected to get gold again.
So many stories as always.

My mistake, I thought I saw Ludecky say how cool it was to see people win clean. I am switching between the Astros, who are finally winning again, and the Olympics so I am sure I got the girls mixed up.

Love the Olympics and always look forward to watching all of these events.  I've been recording the equestrian events so I can watch in the evenings.  It's sad to me that the Olympics don't seem to be as big of a deal or as historic as they were when I was a kid.  We couldn't wait for it to come on then and now it's just not as important, sadly.  I still love it though and still tear up when we win gold and that flag is raised!

No worries. They are both great girls and Team USA is just cleaning up out there

Thank You, I can't believe I forgot her name. I used to watch beach volley ball every time I could find it on the weekends years ago. Kerrie and Misti were awesome together.

I havent this year, I keep forgetting about themΒ

They are on NBC, Bravo, USA. I think the women gymnastics team competes again Thursday. You should try to watch them. They are just amazing. I doubt we ever see a team as strong as they are. They really pull for each other, too. Simone is just unstoppable.

It's all I watch for 16 days!!!

I even watch the random sports. This year, the random sports have consisted of cycling (the wrecks, OMG!), canoe (looks like a lot of work, but fun), archery and fencing (I don't get it, the whole "initiate the attack" and "right of way" thing).

USA! USA! USA!

The Olympics is kicking my butt with the time that it is coming on!!! Same story every 4 years though, LOL!!! I coached gymnastics for 27 years and competed at a relatively high level growing up, it is crazy to see what these kids (and in some instances 41 year olds) are doing now!!! USA gymnastics should just hirer Aly Raisman for the next Olympics now as the Team Captain, that kid's mental attitude is amazing as is her gymnastics.
Thank goodness it will be football season here in a few weeks, after the Olympics is over it would seem like nothing was on to watch!!!

All I know is that Clark Montgomery let his feelings get to him in eventing cross country, whipping his horse for refusing (even if the horse was being a brat) like that when you know you are being video'd is not very wise. The equestrian sports already get a lot of bad vibes, no need to feed the haters with precious video like that.

Otherwise, I love the swimming and gymnastics, USA is kicking butt.

Wow! Glad I didn't see that. Will he be disciplined for that? I remember McClain was banned for a while for putting plastic chips in his horse's boots. But it wasn't at the Olympics.

I mean it wasn't awful (3 very animated and loud smacks to the butt with his whip), but it was obvious he did it because he was irritated that horse was being bad. He ended up disqualified after 3 refusals. He has since said the horse was not acting like he normally does, and was having some bad habits show up that he thought they trained out of him years ago.

I've been taping them and that way I can cruise through commercials and sports I have no interest in. Love the Olympics!
