Location: Texas | Just curious about this. Does a brand/location of a brand on a horse influence your decision to purchase? Thanks for all your feedback! |

Yes, absolutely. I don't care how good the horse looks or how well it's bred, if it has a big brand, it's out. It's not just me either, a lot of people I know feel the same. I don't want a fourth of the hip (or shoulder) with someone's "billboard" on it. I really don't mind a normal-looking brand.

Location: Texas | Yes and no. My best horse has a huge brand on her right hip. I saw it from the thumbnail picture on her craigslist ad. I knew who the brand belonged to and knew she had good horses, so it actually turned me on to the ad more than anything.
However, for babies or unstarted prospects, I don't like a huge brand. |

I agree with this. Brands should be simple and tasteful. Not bill board big though or something an artist designs. |

| If they are branded, wonderful then I don't have to pay to have my brand stamped on them.
Brands distract people from stealing them.
If they go missing, or have to be turned loose due to flood or fire, the brand is proof of ownership. The brand inspector will contact the person who owns the brand. |

Location: Oregon | It wouldnt deter me at all if they were what I was looking for. Although my brand is brass knuckles, which I'm sure some people wouldn't like but I only have it on one horse for now and she wont ever go up for sale. It's not huge and most people don't recognize what it is but I figure you'd have to be pretty ballsy to steal her with that branded on her. hahaha |

I agree with this. I dislike people who buy and sell after weeks or months and the brand is slapped on everything and I have skipped over horses with one on depending on what the brand was because I know they buy and sell fast. I also like small simple brands if there is one on a horse not ones that take up half + of the hip or shoulder. |

Location: Great Places Great Faces | Is this a serious question? Idk would you buy an "ugly" horse if it won everything... ? This question just kind of cracked me up... Have we become that vane of a society that a brand can make or break a sale?!?! smh... |

Yes, it is a serious question. I saw a post on SM recently regarding folks not buying horses with brands. I found it unusual so figured I'd ask the question to see how prevalent this actually is. |

| I don't mind them but if I or someone I know had a bad experience with a horse with a certain brand I try to stay away. |

Location: Texas | I could care less if horse has a brand or not. If the horse is what I want and works how I want I would not pass him up just because he had a brand or two or three or ten. Lol. |

I personally feel if a person has a problem with the brand we use, they don't deserve a horse we raise. That brand is over 30 years of genetic crossing, up to 5 generations of horses and now 2 generations of people. |
