Horse is itching again this summer.... I have him on Platinum Performance this time around and the itching is not as bad. It's present, but his tail still has hair and he hasn't rubbed a hole in his neck.
I have NOT yet wormed this season
(last fecal showed no worms but I'm aware that pinworms don't show up
). I suppose I'll worm with Equimax but should I go ahead with the double dose to follow potential threadworm protocol? Or just the single dose?
I've also contemplated a steroid shot to ease his symptoms. Thoughts? He's stalled 4 days a week, turned out 3
(dry lot
) and I don't do a fly sheet because of the heat.

MSM used to help my mare quite a bit with seasonal itch from the Cottonwood trees.

De-worm first. Wait to see if that worked. Even with a steroid shot the problem is still there. Just masked.

Did the double dose of Equimax and will probably double dose again in 2 weeks. Really on the fence regarding a fly sheet though.....worth it??
I already feed MSM
(different from last summer
) and was wondering about anti-hist? The tub made by Ani-Med recommended feeding Anti-hist in conjunction with MSM but it seemed like it was more for lungs rather than itchy skin allergies....
