Veteran Posts: 119 Location: Texas	I got this horse out of a situation. He isn't skinny he was well fed but thats about it looks like he hasn't had his feet done in forever and he has a club foot been sitting for years and its chipped off a lot .

Serious Snap Trapper Posts: 4275 Location: In The Snow, AZ	My mare is club footed. Farrier calls her about a 3-4 on a 1-10 scale. So she's not terrible. But I definitely can notice it if I don't have her feet worked on for a while. I keep her on a 6 week schedule and she does well on it. It can never be fixed, but it's been greatly improved with a good, knowledgeable farrier. Shes been running 17's on a standard. So I would say, it's not throwing her off much.

	We had a nice calf horse with a club foot. He never had any issues and x rayed at 17 with good joints. I do have a 2 year old with a club foot because of injury. I'm hoping it doesn't affect him as well.

Reaching for the stars.... Posts: 12704	The horse in my avatar has a club foot. If he gets bad farrier work it gets much worse. With my current barefoot trimmer it has been such a non-issue that most people don't even see it. Bring it back slowly into the best shape it can be and keep feet trimmed regularly. With a club foot you can't skip or stretch farrier visits. I have had my horse xray'd every 3-4 years to make certain there were no interior changes and there never has been since he was 5, when a bad farrier had my horse so poorly kept that he (horse) actually broke off the last 1/8" tip of his coffin bone.
