| I am looking to purchase my first diesel pickup. I am currently pulling an 18' steel 3-horse with a 4' short wall that my '01 (gas) Chevy get's pretty bogged down with. That being said, I've ALWAYS been a Chevy girl and had very, very good luck with them. I don't know that I could live with myself if I bought a Ford (just how I was raised), but I've heard nothing but good things about the 6.7s that are out there. I like the looks of the Dodge's, but just dont have as much experience with them.
In your opinion, what's the best diesel truck on the market right now? The worst?? I want the good, bad and ugly :) TIA! |

I had a 2010 Dodge Ram 3500 Diesel that was constantly in the shop. I know many cowboys who swear a Dodge is the greatest truck every made but Mine was a lemon! Literally had to have it towed to the dealership twice. |

Location: NE Texas | I've got a 2010 Dodge that we did the delete on back in the spring and put a dual disc clutch in. It's got 170,000 miles on it and drives like a race car. It has been a good truck over all and i've always been a die hard Dodge fan due to the fact that you could get a Dodge in a standard transmission up until the last few years. I've only driven one Dodge automatic pulling a trailer for a friend and i'm not sure i'm sold on that. The standards were awesome though.
We've been looking at trucks a little bit. We won't trade in the Dodge, but have considered buying a new truck to leave hooked to the trailer. I have to admit that i've looked at the Chevy/GMC pretty closely. I'd have to hook one up to my trailer before I could make the jump. The Dodge is a pulling machine....but with the automatic, i'm just not sure. |

Location: In The Snow, AZ | We JUST bought a 2016 Chevy 3500 Duramax. It's pulling our 3 horse 9' shortwall like a dream. Don't even feel it behind us.
We looked into the Dodges and just couldn't pull the trigger on it. We were initially pulling with an '04 Chevy 2500hd Duramax. And although it pulled it great, we didn't feel like we had the stopping power we needed behind it going down some of the switchbacks we travel thru. Don't get me wrong, it pulled our old trailer beautifully. But with the bigger trailer, we smoked our brakes in two hauls. Better safe than sorry, so we bought a new truck. I've read SO many times here, that it's not what can be pulled, but what can be stopped. And it proved to be a true statement in our situation.
But to your original question, I say Chevy, hands down... |

Location: "...way down south in the Everglades..." | I think Dodge is the best looking truck out there but I wouldn't buy one. Between the two, I'd go with Chevy over Dodge any day. But I really think Ford beats them all out IMO. I'm looking at a 6.7 that's a few years old to replace my old Ford 7.3. BTW...I grew up a GM/Chevy girl too, but even my father has now switched to Fords...never thought I'd see the day lol! |

Before my diesel I had a 2001 Silverado gasser. Bought it at 90,000 miles and ran it over 350,000. Just sold it because I upgraded but LOVED that truck.
nothing beats Chevy!! |

Location: BFE, Texas | I just retired my '96 Dodge 3/4 diesel to farm truck. Pulled a 4 horse alum. and lots of flatbeds hauling rnds. I drive my Dodge trucks forever..because they last ! Just went to gas this time because gas is cheaper plus the DEF added to cost of diesel turned me off. Just bought 2016 Dodge 3/4 with 6.4 Hemi. Love love love it ! |

However, I will agree with GM/Chevy owners that the ride and the interior comforts of the Chevy/GM trucks are better and the Allison transmission is a definite plus...but we prefer manuals any ways, so it hasn't ever really been an issue with us with the Dodges. |

| We have 3 Duramax's.
2007 Chevy 2500HD, egr delete and a 30hp tune. This one will die on the farm, pre emissions and will sit down and pull until you say stop.
2008 GMC 3500 DRW, replaced another '08 Duramax 2500 with this one when we bought our bigger trailer. Incredibly comfortable truck to drive. We can find the bottom of it at higher speeds and some steeper hills. We plan to have the egr delete and tune put on it this winter.
FIL has a 2005 or 2006 GMC 2500HD as well. It has also been a great truck. If he found a sweet deal on a 3500DRW he'd consider trading up. Their Elite 3H squats the 3/4T pretty good. He's been making us drive everywhere so he can ride in the tonner, lol!
So we are a Duramax family. Our neighbor is also our mechanic and wrenches on diesels for a living. If we want work done on the side/under the table he said we better keep buying duramax's. He gets his fill of fixing the other 2 at work. |

Its had some issues because we bought it used and dont know what they did with it before we got it, but it pulls great. Cant feel my 4 horse gn behind me, loaded. Its great on diesel too. Location: Feeding mosquitos, FL | Love my 2014 Dodge dually. Tons of power, lots of stop, and rides so good with some weight on the back. It can be a bit bumpy unloaded but I'd rather have the stiff suspension to tote the load.
My Dad has a new Chevy 2500 gas. The interior is super nice and it pulls fine but you need a 40 acre field to turn that thing around. Huge turning radius and it's not even as long as my truck. |

Location: Oklahoma | Just bought a 2016 High Country Duramax this year and I absolutely love it. This is the 3rd Chevy I've had, and IMO, they can outpull, outride and outdrive all the others (I've driven my friends' trucks, so that's how I compare.) |
