Has anyone submitted a sample for testing to the new equiseq testing? I have two horses I wanted tested, sent in hair back in July. Site says I'd get results by oct 1, which is coming up and I've heard nothing. The one horse is not even listed at receiving the test on my profile page. Theres no number to call, just a contact page you can e-mail which no one wants to respond to. Anyone know whats going on?

I did the testing on PSSM1 with Animal Genetics. I was going to send off hair to the PSSM2 website but the website was so sketchy looking. I'm sorry you're having trouble I hope they get your results back asap!

Why do folks keep buying into this pseudo science? These are just typical quack gimmicks. If you are so careless with your money, then you get what you deserve. This whole horse hair analysis fad is just pure bullsh!t.

So all the 5 panel testing people do to try stop breeding animals with genetic diseases is just bull****?

My mistake. I thought this was about horse hair analysis. The genetic testing for these disorders really has nothing to do with the horse hair analysis that has been popularized. The hair follicles (or "roots") are used to get DNA for analysis, not the hair shaft itself.

That's not what this is. It's DNA testing for a genetic defect, PSSM2 & PSSM3. That's the working name they are giving them. Many of these defects have been identified in humans as well. They are trying to develop a reliable test for equines similar to the other DNA tests for genetic defects that already have a hair test. i.e. 5 panel.

To the OP. This is an experimental test. They are having to do them by hand. It's apparently a slow process. Some people have received their test results. The first 50. I submitted 4 tests. I hope to get the results the end of October. But realizing they are probably doing the best they can, I will wait. If you are on facebook, go to the PSSM Forum and ask Paul Szauter. He can answer your questions.

I am on that facebook group too, I didn't see anything posted about a change in the testing times. I guess I would have thought they would have sent out an e-mail to paying customers notifying of a delay or at least changed the dates on their website. My one horse was supposed to be in the first batch, but I didn't get any results.

Paul is always willing to answer questions, shoot him a message on Facebook! It is a slow proecess testing all of the samples and they have to do everything by the books and documented to continue on with their research. My P2 test came back (positive unfortunately but a blessing in disguise) and my P3 test (also known as MFM) is coming back in the next batch approximately the end of this month. They just finished up with the first 50 samples for the P3 test and people got their results back. As time goes on like any test it will get faster, but just think of it as a good thing they are taking their time researching and making sure everything is correct and not rushing it. :) Good luck I hope the results are in your favor!!

Paul is on that forum a lot answering questions and is responsive to private messages as well. I've received answers very quickly from him.

My one horse I guess should be in this batch then? I guess he must have been put in the second batch and not the first as I thought. He was in part of the studies for the muscle fasiculations.

Haven't got mine back either.... I emailed them to make sure my sample was received because my account said "processing"... someone got back to me ASAP (same day) saying they did get the sample so I waited... after months went by and still no results I have emailed them twice and no response... I understand if they need more time than originally planned just wish someone would let us know!

They also need more people to send samples and money so they can continue to devolp their test.

Yes I feel like just an update on their website would be nice with a new date, then they wouldn't have to be bothered with answering e-mails of frustrated people wondering what is going on

Did you message Paul on Facebook? I think he made a post earlier about extending it out to November because the number of samples they had, I just asked him about my P3/Px test and he said it should be back shortly. I'll post on the page and ask ETA, I know my P2 test took awhile to come back but it's because they have more hoops to jump through than the established/recgonized tests I believe...I'll let you know what I hear :)

Yes. My one horse was supposed to be in the studies and I was originally told it would be finished in July. Then July became august... then no later than october...

I did the hair test for PSSM1 and the muscle biopsy for PSSM2. It took approx. 10 days to get the results of my muscle biopsy.
