Pretty common knowledge that except for the top few, it takes all their winnings plus some. Most could not do it without their sponsors. It is the at the NFR that if they win big they come out ahead plus the gains in sponsors etc. Not to sound hokey, but most are living the dream, it's not about being practical and having a guaranteed paycheck every 2 weeks although several NFR qualifiers have also had full time jobs.

HA HA ... it's called the 3am bleery eye attack getting ready to load colts and go to official schooling races to be approved to run in a real race ... training races are 3 hours away and sign in is before 7am ... TOTALLY agree with you! It is amazing that Lisa has been to so few and banked that much. Shows how consitant she is!! And I am also so bummed for Taylor. She really had some tough luck this year. During the last stretch all 3 of her horses were at home injured and she was borrowing horses trying to make the top 15 :(. I will miss seeing her, but no doubt she will be back.
