For those of you that feed a feed like Renew Gold or Enrich Plus, where you feed very little, how do you keep your horses energy levels up? I just recently switched to Enrich Plus for the winter since my horse will be just sitting until March and he is a VERY easy keeper. I could definitely tell a difference in his energy level at our last barrel race for the year, just no 'UMPH'. I usually feed Triple Crown Complete in the summer because that seems to keep him running strong and more on the muscle since he's a pretty laid back kinda guy otherwise, not ever in a hurry to do much HA! Ive really been interested in feeding Renew Gold for quite some time now but my biggest concern is him not having enough get up and go.

Id love to hear what you do for your, not so hot horse. Thanks in advance!

I think if you add about 2-4 lbs of oats split between two feelings you will get what you are after.

Rice bran. I've fed both. I liked Renew but my horse dropped weight. Yes, his teeth were floated, wormed, and quality alfalfa. I had his blood pulled, all within norms, scoped for ulcers. Nothing. I switched back to Enrich plus adding rice bran and keeping with alfalfa. All his weight came back. His energy level is perfect.

Im not concerned with him losing weight at all. He can look at grass and get fat it seems lol.  Hes on pasture all summer and when it gets really cold during the winter he has access to quality hay 24/7. Im just concerned with him not having enough run this next summer because I plan on keeping him on something like Enrich or Renew Gold.

I feed my renew gold with oats and alfalpha pellets. They didn't lose any energy. But my spooky horse is less spooky. But still has plenty of go when I need it.

Thats good to know. I feel like my horse has maybe had a hard time adjusting to not so much sugar or 'sweet' taste that Triple Crown did. Do you  like the results youve seen with Renew Gold?

I added a pound of oats with my renew, wouldn't change a thing! He loves it and looks/feels amazing on it.

Yes. I have one ulcer prone horse(out of 6) that I am having to adjust the extra stuff with it to get her fat but everyone else acts and looks really healthy.

I feed Platinum with mine during race season and he's on the muscle, but I may need to try adding Oats or Rice Bran for his off season. In the winter he's a big lazy sloth and I never thought it could have something to do with his grain!

To those of you that feed alfalfa and oats....do you weigh your alfalfa pellets before or after they are soaked? Or do you even soak them? I know people feed them both ways, so Im curious.
Also, could I mix the alfalfa pellets and oats all in one barrel? Im having to board my horse right now and dont want to make it hard on whomever is feeding my horse.

I weighed my cubes before I soaked them. I give two lbs of alfalfa cubes and 1lb of RG.

You can mix them. I feed 1 lb of each. My horse's range in age from 20 to weanlings. I have a super vitamin and mineral out for them. It's a regional mineral. Made specifically for our Hill Country.
I weigh before and I don't soak.

Changes coming next month, January, for Renew Gold availability. Renew Gold will be in stock and on the computer replenishment in every Tractor Supply store that carries equine products in the US. This means that when Renew Gold is sold, it is automatically replaced without someone needing to sit down in that store and reorder it (that is the case now). This should greatly increase availability of Renew Gold (over 900 more stores) and greatly reduce the chances of the store being out of product.
In addition, we will be working to increase availability in independent feed stores that can provide the knowledgeable support that only true feed stores can give.
