Location: relocated to Texas | I have received a lot of questions about the ground at the NFR. Here is what I know. A grounds man was hired to analyze and fix the arena ground. He is supposed to be very good at his job and has worked very hard on the NFR arena dirt. They analyzed the old dirt and added necessary components to restore it so that it could be used as a base. Then they brought in some new ground and put it on top of that. The barrel racers had their first practice this morning and 30 runs were made on the new ground. It is said to be AWESOME in this initial testing. Thanks to all of you who forwarded the petition and special thanks to the lady I have been working with behind the scenes who gave me information on who to contact with the petition results. Praying for luck and safety for all of the NFR contestants. I will update with any more feedback I get from people who are there on the grounds.
And a big shout out to the crew of the NFR and all the work they have put into fixing the ground. |

| It would be so nice for these fabulous teams to have ground where they can really make beautiful runs without fear of getting their horse hurt. |

Location: relocated to Texas | Nevertooold - 2016-11-30 3:30 PM Hats off to you for getting this done. Thanks, But it was a team effort. I started the petition, which generated some phone calls from some pretty good folks. One very gritty lady in particular who I cannot name, (but she knows who she is) has been involved in trying to get this done for years. All of their past efforts fell on deaf ears. But, when we got YOU, THE FANS INVOLVED, well, the fan support and number of people signing, leaving comments and sharing the petition was so important. If you ever think you cannot make a difference, all of you who took the time to show your support sure did here. The information from the petition was shared with Las Vegas Events and various sponsors. That in my opinion is what finally got things going. Kudos to the NFR grounds crew who are making this happen. I cannot wait to watch this year.

Location: The Great Northwest | Yes, it did take a shout-out and a petition to get the much needed attention to the ground at Thomas Mack for the NFR competitors. A Big Thank You to All who had a hand in getting this very important situation to the people who could get the ground the attention needed. The new ground care has the barrel racers gaining confidence as well as in the other events. It is exciting to watch as all try to reach their potential!

| Even though I'm a bit biased, I think the barrel racing is one of the most exciting events so far this NFR! Even the tv announcers seem a lot more engaged and impressed this year than years past! I think the ground is helping majorly! It is really showcasing our sport and how tough it is at the world level! I mean the times say it all this year :) |

One of them said they'd rather ride a bull than lead a barrel horse in |
