I lost about 25 lbs last year and I fell off the wagon, then broke my foot and I just never got back at it. Fast forward to now and I've managed to gain it all back. Being active is not my problem, its the constant food cravings. When I get bored, I eat. When I watch TV I eat. When I'm on the road ( which is 90% of my life between being a crop adjuster and hauling to races) I snack constantly. Sometimes I dont even realize I'm doing it. And a big drawback to spending so much time on the road of course is the fact that eating healthy is more difficult. Unless I eat Subway everyday its hard to be healthy. I just wanted to see what you all do to keep yourself motivated and on track as well as what your workout routines are. Thanks guys!!

Medifast works and gets your eating under control. Changing perspective helps too. Making every unhealthy and unnecessary bite taste like failure is what helps me really stay right. I hate losing, and I'm stubborn.

Couch25K also works, 30-35 minutes a day, every other day. Or walk five miles a day without fail. You're looking at less than two hours a day walking five miles.

since you're on the road a lot, can you pack a cooler so you can bring better choice snacks and food. identifying your triggers is the first step...you just need to figure out how to make a replacement choice for those triggers

Whenever you're craving a snack, drink some water or sugar free powerade/gatorade.

,hard boiled eggs are some of the things I eat it takes some planning, everything green. I sit six to seven hours five days a week so I walk and run on the treadmill and use an incline bench for core strength.

I'm a mail carrier so I eat in my vehicle a lot too. I usually eat a good breakfast and have a protein bar/shake for lunch. I go to crossfit early before work. I Try to go to a class at least 3x a week. Being a better rider is my motivation mostly. My gelding is 14.3h and I'm 5'8" so I'm afraid I'll bog him down. And working out just makes you feel better! I just feel incredible after a crossfit class, like I can do anything. Lol Something else I've learned is to not let yourself get hungry because that leads to binging and over eating. It's better for your metabolism to eat (healthy) all through out the day. Advocare has vitamins that help with cravings. Take them with breakfast and lunch. I'm not trying to sale anything, it just works for me.

I walk every day between 2 and 3 miles, then I do a 5 to 10 minute workout a day through Sworkit (its a free workout app for your phone) to keep my muscles in shape for riding, particularly barrel racing. But my horses, especially in the summer, keep me active, and my job keeps me active all the year round, but I still do that extra to keep me barrel racing fit.

Other than all the walking I do daily for chores and upkeep on the place (cleaning stalls, etc).  I recently started PiYo dvds.  There's not time for me to get to a gym.  I love that these are 20-40 min in length and all I need is a yoga mat.  They're HARD!  I drink a lot of water, I try to drink lemon water when I'm hungry.  I really need to lose 15lbs....so I'm making some changes.

Thanks so much for all the input. I've actually used sworkit and C25K app before, so I think I'll get back into the swing of that. And thanks for all of the other ideas too!

I don't have time to workout. I don't have time to diet. I don't have time to cook on most days. I got up to 265lb. No joke! I can't walk out the pasture where the colts are without having to take a break. On July 27 2016 I started on plexus. 3 days ago not only did I make it to the colts pasture but I walked almost to the back of it. 120acres. Its not small. Not once did I have to stop. Today I RAN THROUGH PARKING LOT. My 17yr old asked me to stop Lol. We were trying to watch a friend of hers make her run.I've lost 6in. In a year. I have yet to get on a scale. I wore my favor riding jeans today. First time I've had them on in over year.

I like to snack on almonds, sunflower seeds, fruit, beef jerky and cheese on the road. Be sure to eat a good breakfast, so you don't feel hungry all day. I think that is crucial!

Eating healthy takes time and planning

I had a baby this year and I had about 50 pounds to lose after the fact. Just finally able to start wearing some of my pre-pregnancy clothes again and it feels so GREAT!

Some days I just get sick of planning and mumble/groan about it the night before. But I'm proud to say in the 4 months I have been back to work, I have only eaten out 3 times for lunch (at a restaurant) and I have only gotten Subway about 5 times for lunch. That's it. Otherwise, my lunch is PACKED and pre-planned. Effort? Yes, indeed. But worth it to meet my goal.

My biggest thing --> If I don't buy it, then I can't eat it.
If I don't buy unhealthy things, then they aren't sitting around for me to munch on.

If you need to keep your mouth busy while you are on the road, pack something like baby carrots and celery to munch on. Very low-calorie and healthy, and you can eat a ton and satisfy that "bored" snacking. Same goes for watching TV. It's all about choosing wisely what you want to snack on.

I typically have some fruit and a handful of almonds for a morning snack. You could certainly incorporate nuts into your snacking habits (but of course, don't eat the whole bag -- just a serving!).

I've found that the better you eat, and more consistently you eat better, then those food cravings just seem to not be much of a problem anymore.

Also, watch how many carbs you eat. Carbs aren't "bad" but you do have to eat them in moderation. Make sure you get lots of protein and veggies.

Even though food planning is a pain, I have to say this is the healthiest I've ever eaten and I actually WANT to eat healthy (and crave the healthy choices now) because I now how GOOD I feel when I eat healthy.

I got myself started on the 21-Day Fix after baby was born, and it was a really simple way to jump start my new eating lifestyle. I don't follow it perfectly or exactly every day, but it was very good guidelines on portion control.

Whats helped me the most is just eating healthier.. eating less and drinking more water.
I started crossfit when I hit my 50 lbs mark...I did that for a year until my job changed... I started back up at the gym just this month!

These are some good points, thanks!
I started back to the gym this past weekend and a good friend gave me some guidance on some good protein shakes to have for breakfast (I'm not a big breakfast person so this will be a good alternative) which I tried for the first time this morning and it's delicious!
I agree with not buying junk. I do this as well because I have no willpower, lol.
I found some good healthy crockpot recipes that I'm going to try, cause I'm bad about just making something quick that's usually pretty unhealthy ??

I am a crop adjuster also (Diversified Crop insurance - who do you work for?) I also found out that so much driving and fast food was not good for my figure either. I started walking any chance I got (because I couldn't do much else - and I live too far out to really make a gym feasible). My husband lucked up on a cheep used elliptical, so that will be my winter exercise. I like yoga because the flexibility and strength/core work is helping with my riding. I also second PiYo - it is doable for any fitness level - and it will KICK your ASS.

I am down 45 lbs since the 1st of July. I started in a biggest loser group with some neighbors. We put the money each month at $100 and my competiveness kicked in - and the fact that I was riding some colts at a friends indoor English arena with all the mirrors on the walls. It smacked me in the face just how heavy I was getting and what I looked like on a horse. Sometimes the biggest wake up call is being honest with yourself.

During the biggest loser challenges, I tried every fad or crash diet I could find on the internet. Yes I lost weight- and I was happy to be doing so - but I logically knew these diets were not going to be maintainable. I was looking for a lifestyle and a way of eating that could help keep me slim - not a diet that I had to exactly follow.

The biggest help for me actually came through my company. In an effort to have a healthier workforce and thus keep insurance costs down for everyone, my company offered free memberships to Naturally Slim for the first 200 people that signed up. It is a program built on the principals of how a true thin ( those skinny people that can eat almost anything they want) eats. They teach that it is not WHAT you eat, but WHEN and HOW you eat. It also helps with your mindset about food, your vital needs (the things in your life that make you happy so you don't eat your emotions), how to change your weight set point so you actually need less food, nutrition and where sugar hides - along with a lot more.

It is a 10 week course - I'm almost done and I've lost 14 lb so far. That doesn't sound so great does it? 14 lbs in 10 weeks? Other fad diets are much quicker. But remember - I already jerked off 31 lbs of fluff weight before I started the program. AND eating the Naturally Slim way - I eat out all the time. I eat Chinese, Mexican, Italian, burgers....whatever. I stay away from sugar for the most part, but if I'm really craving it - I eat a dessert. I know I can because I follow the true thin principals. I honestly believe that I have found what will work for a lifetime - and the "Diet Weight" is lifted off my shoulders! I DON"T obsess about food anymore - I DON"T pay attention to the magazine covers at the checkout line and I DON"T worry about what I can eat at a restaurant. And I don't exercise like a mad woman I'm thrilled if the weight only comes off a pound a week - because I'm no longer obsessing about it and I KNOW I can do this for a lifetime.

The program is expensive if you have to do it on your own, but maybe your company might also offer something like it? I'd also be happy to tell anybody more about it if they are interested.

Snack prep. Carrots, sugar snap peas, grapes, cashews, turkey wrap, Greek yogurt...get yourself a cooler and pack all sorts of snacks. You might look into portion containers similar to the 21 Day Fix program. They have knock offs at Bed Bath Beyond and Fry's...a lot of people eat bigger portions than they should be.
