APHA is in serious management and financial trouble ... as of this year they dumped keeping track of racing paint records to SPEEDHORSE MAGAZINE and they are doing the best they can with the filtered and minimum data they get from APHA .... GRRRRRRR Warning ... as a breeder of barrel horses ... don't get crazy wanting a colored foal ... breed to the best even if he is a solid bred paint.. you are now looking for the best quality foal and not for color ... either way ... you only have a 50-50 chance of getting color even if every horse in the foals pedigree was a colored registry paint!! I would breed to Firewater Finale. I love how everyone says their babies are so good minded and trainable. With your health problems that would make me want to breed to such a stallion over speed and refinement, if you are looking for a horse that you can do anything on. If I were to ever have a mare I wanted a baby from, he is the stallion I want. I would want a horse to trail ride, work cattle and barrel race and possibly do Ranch classes. I believe for an older amateur rider his colts would be exactly what I was looking for. I sure hope you find something that helps your back. I love your posts on Ace, he is just a special boy for sure.

I love PFF!! He has got some NICE babies on the ground and I have heard they all are super smart and easy to train.

He is nice though, I would love a stud colt by him out of Chelsea's mare, Double Galatea :D

As of now Painted Turnpike's owners aren't sure if he will stand at stud for 2017 or continue racing.

I had a feeling that might be the case ..

With all the innuendo's that APHA has installed on solid colored paints it
would be tuff to get racing mares to him even with his racing record.
The guys ruining APHA are the same ones that killed the APPY Association
with crazy color rules.

His owners or any owner for that matter has a tuff time finding any races
written for paints over 3 years old. 3 basic types claiming, allowance and
handicaps are their choices but almost none written for a successful
race horse. The few they do write are for like: non winners, long distances,
invite only with nomination and gate fees applied...

Tx and Ok are your paint running states .. there are a few run in Wy, Mt, Id
areas as meets at fairs once a year and are again for your 2-3 year old.

Most of us that were breeding and racing paints have sold all of our paints
due to the fact APHA would change rules to go into affect immediately
and leave us with a pasture full of young paints with no where to go
with them and of course these constant flip flops on rules de valued our
babies so much they practically had no value ....

GOOD LUCK ... and don't assume you are going to get a 1D horse regardless who you breed to .. your mare is a solid looking girl .. but finding a stallion to
add all the things you want may take several years of extending her pedigree thru her daughters ... so breed for the best improvement on a baby ...
if you are happy ... I am happy ... lol
