Location: Roping pen | Has anyone priced new trucks lately?
It has been 8 years since we have..75,000 for a new F450/4500? That is more than we paid for our house 12 years ago. And it appears they sell them for that as they are really hard to find. One a year old with 20k miles is still 65k??? Once we put on a hauler bed, extra fuel tank, air or timbren overloads, running boards, and grill guard, we are close to 90k.
The one we are replacing, we paid 54k for it 8 years ago. ...One with just the exact same options would be right at 95k..56% increase. Or 7% a year!
What are other doing for their medium duty truck needs?

| It's amazing how expensive they are. We pretty much down graded. Went to a single cab work truck. Can be a bit tight at times and it's nothing fancy but it gets us there. |

| Yep bought a new Dodge 3500 last month. Sticker was 67k and I got it bought for 57k. My 2007 with 300k was still a strong truck but every repair irritated me because that is cash I could put into something with a warranty. So i traded it in and they gave me good money for it. I'm loving the new truck, not the payment but I'm glad its covered to 125k warranty wise.. |

Location: sunny california | bought a 2016 f 450 couple months ago with a flat bed. needed crew cab and 4 wd and dually of coarse. got for around 65000 but it is striped inside very much a work truck. but nice bed with boxes. we just did not want to wait until the only option was a 2017 as they made way to many changes. already know of one person with probs with the 2017. This is very close to what we paid for a second house a few years ago. |

Location: North Dakota | Probably cheaper downsizing trailer, buying a used truck and renting hotel rooms-we have a very solid f350 that is 12 years old-and casually looked into something different a few weeks ago-still trying to get my eyeballs back in my head-something equal to what I paid $22k for 8 years ago is now $40K-WTH? WHO makes those kinds of decisions? BTW how long can you finance a rig like the one you're looking at? 10 years would make that payment very, very uncomfortable for me...but I'm only a weekend warrior so do not see the need for a rig that size-just curious. |

| I traded my 2007 dodge 2500 for a 2012 dodge 3500 and they gave me great money for my trade in. I went with the 2012 because it was the last year before they switched to DEF. the truck runs and pulls great and had just enough miles on it to be "broke in". Just do your research and look around until you find the perfect fit. |

| We looked for months and wouldn't go new because of how ridiculous it is. Our 2002 Ford still ran good but the rust ate it up and it was not safe anymore. Hard to think of spending $60-$70k on one that will probably happen to again......if you are willing to travel (and prepared to act) you can find used ones out there. Auto trader, cars.com are good places to watch. And how are these trucks that much better than they were ten to fifteen years ago? They just seem to have more that can go wrong these days and are harder to work on yourself. |

| So I was not the only one who noticed. We had been looking and the prices are crazy high. And the sales people are shady. They have started this thing now where they won't put the prices on the vehicles. You have to ask them what the price is and even then they don't want to give it to you. They just want you to give them all of your finacial info and then they tell you. Uh, no. I ended up getting a truck in another town that did not have that policy at their dealership.

| We have been trading trucks every 5 years so that they are still worth something to sell. Ours are always considered low mileage since we only use it to pull the trailer. The other day hubby priced a new one just like what our 2014 is just because he was killing some time. Talk about a WOW moment 2017 f350 diesel 4 door was priced at $73,000!!!! Our days of trading trucks is officially over if I have anything to do with it. Our son just bought a used Old Deminion simi for $5500 to pull his ground load with. It is very clean and came with all the service records. My thoughts are to get one of those when the time comes. edited to add that our current truck taxes are are still $900 even at 2 years old, can you imagine what a new one would cost in our county!!!

| We bought a 2010 a year and a half ago. It had 90k miles on it, and still paid right at 30k after taxes. It is CRAZY! Needless to say, we will have that truck, until it is no more. There are some deals out there for used trucks, but like 'ImasparkyAce' said, you have to be prepared to act quick! We found a 2011 3500 dodge on the way home from a barrel race, that was priced right at what we wanted to spend. Called about it, and on the way there (2 hours away), they called back and said it had just sold. I downloaded the apps on my phone. Cars.com and cargurus and checked them regularly. Good luck! |

| Also the days of " honest" used truck salesman are long gone. If you buy used, make sure it's from someone you know personally. There are so many electronic problems and emissions stuff on these trucks that someone will break and trade it off. |

| I bought a 2016 Dodge situation Hemi because I felt it fit my needs better than a diesel. Has a 6.4 in it, gets pretty darn good fuel mileage and pulls great. My truck was17 years old and time to replace it. It was 54K so I just bit the bullet and bought it. |

Location: Tulsa, Ok | We just traded for an impeccable 2014 F550 customed by Western Hauler with only 27,000 miles on it. An older gentleman had bought it to pull his travel trailer, but declining health screwed his plans. Our friend/neighbor works at the dealership and called us when it came onto the lot. Traded in a 2010 F250 King Ranch model that was low mileage. I am really happy with the deal we were able to make. Not something we could have afforded if it had been brand new. |

| I got my 2016 brand new 3500 dually with AISON transmission for 41,000.
I think people get too caught up in trim packages. I ordered no carpet, no extras. Tradesman Package. It's way fancier than the Tradesman I got brand new in 2011, with back up camera, digital everything, and it was the same price.
It just comes down to whether or not you insist on $10,000 leather seats and chrome door handles. |

We looked at a 16 King Ranch F150 last week. Loved it, drove itself almost---choked on the price. So I think we've decided to open a new business instead!!! Something that I can continue the accounting business and this will complement. And of course today on the dually we think a sensor went out so won't know about that for sure til next week. But it'll be expensive no matter what. So glad we didn't pull the trigger on the new truck last week. . . . |

| Cars are the same way .... I drive an 08 Impala that seems like it's having transmission issues (jerking when leaving a stop). Dealer says "codes say ... " or "the codes don't show anything and we can't duplicate." So we've been looking and whoa!!! Expensive! |

| When suffering from sticker shock or ego paralysis ...
instead of thinking about buying an over priced extended warranty ..
Instead buy some mortgage or life insurance because the next sticker
shock is going to be when they tell you the warranty won't cover
the huge repair bill they hand you ...
