Our Aussie had it done on her right hind in October 2013. It has held really good. Her walk is a little different, but she can do all the things dogs do. She was a 7YO when it was done. We did take her weight down some to make it easier. But she is a girl that likes her food (and people food) so that is difficult to maintain. We did follow the post surgery instructions to the letter for the 8 weeks. Hope that helps....any questions...just ask. :) |

Poor baby, is the first one just not working that has already been done? |

Location: In the Hills of Texas | Through the years we have had 4 of these surgeries done with great success with the fishing line but our dogs were right around 50#'s. With your dog being 125#'s I would say the TPLO would be the only real option. So sorry! |

I stand corrected....It's been a long time since we had our last cruciate surgery and every vet was shoving TPLO down our throats. I just did some research and scratch the TPLO as the long term results have not been good. I'll keep researching along with you.
How old is your dog and what breed is he? |

| Our 100 lb Chesapeake Retriever underwent TPLO on her rear leg when she was 2 years old. She is now 4 and the leg is holding up well. My husband uses her for duck hunting and she is a highly active dog during the day. She runs and plays. We keep a close watch on her weight, she stoves up in the winter time and we give her previcox to manage the stiffness. |

Location: OH. IO | She is a four year old rotti .She is tall..Lol.I just left the vet.He thinks she hyper extended and tore some scar tissue loose and Sia's she is squaring up good.back to some rehab and an anti inflammatory shot.If she's not better I have to take her back.He doesn't do the TTA but there is a new vet in town that does so I'll be on the phone with him. |

| My dog had the TTA back in Feb. She's 8 and about 55 lbs and it's held wonderfully. She's very energetic and I was worried I wouldn't be able to keep her still long enough for it to heal properly but she's been back to normal with no problems.
I'm sorry you have to go through it twice! |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | I had a dog that underwent TPLO on each leg when she was 3 and 4. The rehab was longer than the repair surgery, but she was very sound when she passed away at 11. My mom's shepherd just had her 2nd repair done. The first one is holding great. The 2nd one was done in October and she still gets sore when she overuses it, but she's getting around pretty good. She's over 100 pounds. |

Location: Kansas | I did not do the surgery, the vets said he needed the TPLO surgery beacause of his size. I could not afford that for 2 legs. I did follow the recommended rehab. That was 6 years ago. He is now 14, has really slowed down but I don't feel it has to do with not having the surgery. He has been on Adequan and Dasuquin and I make sure he has daily walks plus the time spent in the backyard |

| We did the tightrope on a 95 lb very active dog. It didn't stay as tight as the vet would have liked. He was 5 at the time and is 7 now and the other leg is now giving him trouble, with arthritis. We still do physical therapy, and he only gets pretty mild"out" time and is on adequan. Wish there were better options for bigger dogs. |

I wish there were better options and I wish it wasn't so darn expensive.I will do whatever I have to do for her cause she's my girl but dang....It's a very expensive deal.especially when they have to have it done more than once.all three of my labs had the surgery.one of them had two surgeries.they all did pretty well as far as growing old and living a good life.i miss them all. |

Bless your heart Jake16; I know the feeling---when our babies hurt we hurt. Praying that your girl gets better and doesn't have to go thru the second surgery. |
