Location: Southern Alabama | After my other emotional post, I figured I'd lighten the mood up, here for me. Anyone have any odd, weird, quirky horses? I do. My grulla roan mare.... well, she is... Special? She does the weirdest things, ever. Always putting her front feet in something. Must lick, chew, bite, rub, touch everything she comes in contact with. Always in my business... if I do not pay her attention when I am anywhere in sight, she will take her front teeth and rub them over the metal gate, making the most awful noise I have ever heard. She is very nosy. She hates dogs, too. And chickens. She tears everything up... blankets, buckets, anything she can. She is definitely very frustrating, to say the least, lol. Anyone got any like this? |

Location: Montana | Yes! I had a gelding that was always in my business...picking up stuff he shouldn't (bags of grain, pop bottles, etc.). Come to think of it though, I was chipping ice the other day, and my main mare who normally doesn't do anything silly, tipped over my shovel for me. Then I have a little 2 y/o mare...she has turned into a sweet heart, but she likes to play and she's just funny to watch, LOL. |

Location: Oklahoma | I have one that does quite a bit of stuff and wants to be in the middle of everything. His latest tho is if you are talking in the pasture with someone he will inch his way in the middle by inch by inch and before you know he is between you and the person you talking to and you move him away then he takes off bucking and run a circle and will come back and do all over. |

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | I have one like a lot of people have that's a major diva. She wants attention when she wants it but the rest of the time she's a bit witchy. I call my gelding my Eeyore horse because he acts just like Eeyore off Winni the Pooh. But now my other little mare, sometimes it's hard to find something good about her. She messes with EVERYTHING and everyone. I can't leave anything laying around because she will drag it off somewhere. I can't leave her blanket laying over her stall like I do the others because she will pull it down and play with it. My stall fronts are panels and she can open them in less than 30sec and once she's out she thinks is all the other horses should be out too. She can un-tie any kind of knot you tie her in. She doesn't go anywhere once she does just stands there, untied stairing at you. She likes to bite my hair or hat when I'm putting her boots on. I really could go on and on about her. |

| Nate is quirky and weird. He LOVES me and is in my business all of the time. He will kick the stall panels when he wants my attention or rode. He paws them until I go to him. He lets himself out of the barn and lets his buddies out. He can untie anything. He steals tools, coats, and throws lawn chairs. He'll stick his head in every garbage can sitting around arenas, bag or not. He takes his hard plastic feed pan and rubs it on the concrete to make noise. He scrapes the fenders with his teeth to make noise. He loves watching fireworks (Our old neighbor used to be a creator and testor for major fireworks company.) He once grabbed my grandmas purse by the bottom edge and flung his head around effectively emptying the contents all over. He's naughty in a cute little boy way, but he's not mean at all.

Location: Southern Alabama | My grulla mare is just odd. She can have a really witchy attitude sometimes, especially if she gets bored or doesn't see the point in something. She is definitely one of those horses that have to be mentally stimulated, all the time. I cannot bully her into anything. I have to make it her way. She paws in any bucket she can find, especially her water trough. I have to clean the thing every single day, because it is always full of mud. Her only flaw I have found so far is she cannot be pastured with other horses... she is mean and nasty to them. She hates dogs, she will do everything in her power to stomp them. I cannot leave anything close to her stall door, she will drag it in there and destroy it. She can open almost anything. She can somehow get a flymask off, even if I put a halter over it... even one with ears. She takes bell boots off and destroys them, too. She licks my hair any chance she gets. I could name endless things she does. |

Location: Texas | I have a mare that can untie just about any knot, which I learned the hard way. I was at a barrel race and had her tied to the trailer. Was digging in the truck for something and as soon as I turned around to walk back to her she was prancing away from the trailer. I thought maybe I just didn't tie her up very well but NOPE. Watched her untie herself many times at home. |

My Nate did this MANY times before we gave up and bought pens. Pain, but I don't have to chase him anymore, or constantly have someone watch him! |

I had a gelding that would do this and I would go back to the trailer and find him gone. Start searching and would find him at someone else's trailer eating usually (even though he had his own hay). Found him IN someone's trailer once and once had him come up to the fence while I was in the arena waiting to rope. He would also go through garbage cans and find yummy wrappers and eat them. I miss hauling him, he always kept me on my toes! |

I have a gelding like this. He can untie ANY kind of knot. He also will like you to death if you'll let him, he is like a big puppy dog. |

| There was a horse at a barn I worked that was a goof. Any time I filled the water tank with fresh cold water he would dunk his entire head in it right up to his ears. |

Mine puts all 4 legs in our big trough and either stands there or splashes around. Her favorite time to do it is right after I've just cleaned it |

Mine pees in the water tank. Also pees on his hay. He is beyond special. If you put a blanket on him he always gets it off (it may take him a day or two) but he will eventually tear it off and.....yes....you guessed it! Pee on it.
Thank goodness he runs a nice set of cans. It is the only thing that keeps him alive most days! |

Location: Georgia | Its hard not to love a quirky horse because they are so entertaining. My gelding that I've have for 17 years is SO naughty. He will get into anything! He is a master of untying himself. Countless times I've heard "a buckskin horse is loose" at barrel races. I just shake my head and go fetch him. He is such a goof but he is the best horse. I would trust him with anybody. My 3 year old has been pastured with him since she was 5 months old and she has picked up alot of his habits. So she will be a fun one also in years to come lol. |

Location: Texas | My granddaughter's roping horse laps water like a dog. They are always worried about him drinking enough. He also gets down and plays in his stall shavings. On maybe his first road trip, they thought he was trying to colic. Kept walking him, and walking him. Then they called his previous owner and he asked if his stall had shavings. When they said yes, he said he is just playing in the shavings. He was right. |

| my mare is always looking for a cookie and will leave a puddle of drool if she thinks you have one. Anyone that comes by she gives them the look "do you have one" It's actually kind of sweet to watch.

| My horse will take off my other 2 horses fly masks in the summer and carry them one by one over to the water trough and drop them in. Couldn't figure out why I kept finding them in the darn trough until I just sat and watched one afternoon. Couldn't believe it when I saw it lol! At least I don't have to go hunting them in the pasture somewhere. |

| I call my gelding my Eeyore horse too! He could care less about getting attention and doesn't show much interest in anything. The only time he ever shows excitement is when we get to chase cows. My mare is a major attention seeker and will put her muzzle right in the nape of anyone's neck who is petting her so she can get face scratches. They both love water but my mare especially, when I pony her with my gelding she will lay down in any puddle she sees, even if the puddle is so small that it's gone when she stands up. She also drinks from the hose... |

Mine despises a blanket but I've got it where she can't get it off. She did get her slinky off one time. To this day I do not know how because it was under her blanket |

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | I had forgot about a mare we had years ago. She was my dads roping horse. She was about 16.1-16.2 very tall girl and every single time she ate feed from her bucket she held up her front left leg until she was done. She always reminded me of a flamingo. |
