Location: Southeast Louisiana | There must be at least a few on here who have to use satellite internet?? I'm going to need to find a service soon, as the new place doesn't have wired internet available from the road. :( Can you share with me if you have a service that you're happy with and who that might be? Also, can you still have wifi? Thanks. |

Location: NW MT | do you have good Verizon cell service where you'll be? If so, check out their Jet Pack. Our local wifi through the phone company sucks big time, was told by the satellite installer that they don't work worth beans where we are, so tried Verizon's Cantana first. It was worthless, but went to the Jet Pack & really like it. Plus, it's portable, so can take it with me where ever I go. |

Ohhh, I like portable, lol. I will look into it. We don't have Verizon, but I will check out their coverage map. AT&T's coverage map was pretty accurate. |

| Pixius - I am pretty impressed with it. We had Hugh's Net and it SUCKED. It was too slow to stream anything. So far, Pixius has been WAAAAY better. |

Location: Ohio | I basically just browse the web occasionally and also watch Netflix fairly regularly, but Hughes Net has been fine for that, no problems. I live about 1/2 mile off the road so satelite internet was one of my only options. |

Location: MS | I've had Excede Satellite internet and now have it thru Dish. Excede was better than what we have now but neither are very good. We now have verizon cell service and as soon as our contract is up with Dish internet we'll be switching to the Jet Pack/Verizon wifi device. My cell phone is so much faster than my satellite internet it's ridiculous. I pay $70 per month for the satellite internet and if there is a cloud in the sky it does not work. It's on my bad side right now. We've had cloudy skies all week so no internet. |

Location: The best kept secret in TX | We have a plug in from Verizon. I literally plug it into my USB port and have internet. I can also plug it into our smart TV to watch Netflixs or stream from my laptop to the TV. We bought the new box that replaces bunny ears and watch the local channels for free. Box was $50 and we get all the local channels plus two movie channels and a kids channel. No problems with my Verizon yet. |

Location: MT | We had Hughes Net and they were horrible. Really do not recommend them. Customer service was awful and they were the kings of the bill creep! And our service was not that great either. |

Location: Texas | We had Hughes for almost 5 yrs and 4 3/4 of it was a total nightmare with mainly there customer service (overseas) and the limiting and then throttling down after going over you're alloted amount of data. We have been out from under it for almost another 5 yrs, but even if their data limits have gotten better, the customer service was enough to run>.. |

Location: Wonderful Wyoming | I'm in WY were pretty much everywhere is rural. Everyone I know hates hughes. I have Exceed and it sucks too. My computer will get really slow on and off through the month and they can't figure it out. It's not my computer because we have tried several. As far as wifi, I have one I plug into my satelite router and my computer/printer/phone (no calls-just internet) will work off it. |

This is what I use. I work online and have had great luck with the jetpack. I put it in my pocket when we travel and can grade papers on the go. :) |

| We use a local company, excellent service. We pay $80/month for unlimited data, speed is not exceptionally fast but good enough to stream movies with no buffering. You need to ask how close you are to the nearest tower, that will make a difference on how good your internet is. Yes, you still have wi-if, that is how it works with satellite. |

Location: Lala Land | We have Hughes Net, it's been ok for us. We really just use it for social media and some netflix. I think I got the cheapest pkg and it's about 65/ month. I think when my contract is up I'll get a jet pack from Verizon though. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | We used to have a Verizon Jetpack, but the overages were killing me. We now have Excede, and it's ok. We have a 15 gb allotment per month and pretty much go through that in about a week. After that, it's throttled down during busy times, but mostly works ok. I can't use it to stream TV because it goes through the data too fast, and then after we run out of data, it buffers too much.
The only weather issues we have is when it's raining hard to the southwest, it will lose signal. |
