Location: Where the buffalo roam | I always have gel nails. They are not break proof, but do help. The velcro on horse boots sometime loosen them. |

Location: California | Yes they are the way to go! I get a light color or glitter fade so the base is clear and I can go a lot longer sometimes even 4 weeks with them still looking okay. If I do a solid dark nail it's only 2 weeks. |

Location: In the land of peanuts and cotton | I've worn acrylic nails or had natural long for years. Never had a single problem until this past October when I on acrylics and I got my thumb nail caught in some farm equipment and ripped my whole nail off. Major pain. But once it grows out I'll go back to wearing them because I don't feel right without them. |

Location: Oklahoma | I can respond better now that I'm not on my phone :) I have had acrylics on and off (mainly on) for the past 16 years. I bite my nails bad when I don't have them. I used to ride 5 horses a day and never broke a nail. I feel naked without them. 90% of the time I do french tips so I can go closer to 3 weeks between fills. Currently I have a pretty sparkly bronze gel polish on the tops of the acrylics right now that I'm liking. Here's a picture of how long mine usually are...

Location: North Dakota | my nails are a mess and talked to one of the gals I work with-she has her real nails dipped-I think they are called SNS nail system? Anyway I found a kit for dipping nails on amazon I'm going to try when it gets here-looks to me like you cover your entire nail with the powder and set it with a adhesive. I don't want long nails I just want nails that look kinda pretty! The sns dip has several different colors. I hope it works and doesn't make them worse. |

The dips are cool. I've done them a couple of times, but they soak off the acrylics everytime they go to refill... got to be too expensive for me, so I went back to just acrylics. |

Location: The best kept secret in TX | Acrylic nails are so annoying to me. Props to you ladies who can work with them. I can't even pick up a quarter if I drop it. LOL I do gel polish at the salon and ask for two top coats if I get anything done at all. I'm usually bare nail. One top coat halfway up my nail and the other all over my nail. It keeps them from chipping |

| I have gel polish on top of acrylics and they last and last and last. I get them filled every couple weeks, but haven't had to get a whole new set on for close to 2 months now. |

Location: North Dakota | I wore acrylics for about 16 years and never had a major issue around my horses. I once ripped one off grabbing the saddle horn during a run, but that was about it. I think they look gorgeous when they are done right. I've also had the shellac done over my regular nails and liked that so much better. No drills involved and the shellac lasted a lot longer for me. |

Location: where the wind blows | So what is the difference between acryclic and gel. Why did you choose the one you chose? |

Location: Mi | I've never been one to get my nails done or have gel nails, acrylic or anything else however last summer I started doing Shellac because I hated my nails always looking so nasty. Im famous for breaking my nails and them always being short, every run about I break one, nail polish lasts about 24 hours if I'm lucky. The shellac lasted great 2-3 weeks, my nails grew like crazy with it on and they were so much stronger. It didn't chip off, they didn't break and they grew. |

The main difference is in the products they use to achieve the final result. |
