South BeachDiet is my go-to.  I wish it had a different name, because at face value it sounds like a fad diet, when in reality, it's about healthy eating.  Whole foods.

The first 2 weeks is low-carb.  I'm starting over and on my 3rd day.  It kills sugar cravings and kind of re-boots your system.  When I did it on 2004, I lost 11 pounds in 14 days.  Once you move to phase 2, you can start adding healthy carbs like whole grain pasta, whole grain bread, etc.  The white sugar and white flour should be gone forever.  In phase 2, I lost 2-3 pounds steady every week, until I lost a total of 40 pounds in about 3.5 months.

For me the beauty of it was that there was nothing to count or measure.  After the first 2 weeks, my appetite was greatly reduced from what it had been.  The only drawback is that it takes quite a bit of meal planning so you don't get in a bind or bored.

After 13 years, I've gained back 25 pounds.  But I love cake.  A lot.

A few years ago I signed up for www.eetfit.com and lost about 10lbs fairly easily.  It is all about at what time to eat carbs and sweets.  Strongly considering doing it again.

I am terrible at weight loss BUT www.bariatriceating.com is loaded with GOOD recipes.  Thanks for the reminder that I should be cooking that way more often!

I started this on Jan 9 and lost 9lbs so far. There is a facebook group that has a lot of information,  "LCHF- low carb high fat".

I go on pinterest for recipes, and have found some really tasty things!

And for someone that has been on a diet for the better part of 2 decades now this is actually really easy, and I am not hungry at all.

My step-daughter was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes a couple years ago so we changed our diet to a low carb.  It's really quite simple - we do tend to eat mainly meats, cheese, and veggies.
I would suggest finding a diabetes cook book or searching diabetes receipes. They are surprisingly good!

Thanks for all the replies. The gal in my office gets her ideas and such from the Facebook page. I think she told me the other day she has lost 9/10 pounds and she just started it around the first of January. I did Weight Watchers way back when and lost..but wanted something easy. I am not much on pasta anyway and I am even limited because of my IBS symptoms.

I made a lasagna with zucchini instead of pasta, and it was divine. I will definitely be repeating that one! It also had a cashew substitute for the ricotta cheese. I was skeptical, but oh my goodness it was fabulous.

I just started this and got the cookbook from DJ Foodie and OMG so many good recipes.  He uses a lot of flax, almound and coconut flour so you get to  make things that are similar to products you may be used to eating.  There is desserts and everything so when I have a sweet tooth I can actually make something that tastes good to me. It's not as hard as you think either once you get past the first few days.   I feel so much better!

The book "Wheat Belly" is an excellent read explaining why grains are bad.

I use cottage cheese, instead of ricotta.

Low carb might even help your IBS.. get all the sugars out and rid the inflammation, you should see some improvements.

Low carb diets are about the only thing that work for me that I can stick to. I have a horrid sweet tooth, but after a couple weeks of low carb it goes away almost completely, but there are still options for sweet cravings that are low carb friendly. I have fallen off the wagon several times (eating a lot of stuff that wouldn't even be on a normal diet), and the only way I have ever successfully taken it off is LC.

Pros - I have lost 18lbs now since December 24. Of course, I had plenty to lose, and I know weight will slow down, but it's nice to have it come off so quickly. Other good news is that I'm thinking more clearly and I have a lot more energy which is allowing me to exercise more. Also, my frantic need for food has gone away - I think because I get to eat so much tasty and satisfying food.

Cons - You need to make sure you get enough fiber, ideally through good veggies but a supplement isn't a bad idea. Also, some people experience "keto flu" when they first start and feel sick and lethargic. That typically passes. I've also heard of someone experiencing some hair loss, but not sure why. Oh, and some people experience bad breath because of ketosis.

That seems like a lot of cons, but honestly, I only occasionally deal with the breath (so I always have sugar free gum around). It works for me and several friends I know.

I love low carb but a word to the wise...make SURE you eat LOTS of vegetables and FIBER!! having done Atkins/Low Carb but lots of fat and animal protein left me with a tear in my bowel. If anything ever made me want to kill myself it was this...it is a pain you cannot escape and heals slowly.

I cut out carbs and sugar, a ketogebic diet. Lost 50lbs from Jan-may. Fell off the bandwagon when summer hit, but haven't gained any back, which is great! Gonna start up again, hoping to lose another 40-50lbs.
