Ugh.

I filled my propane about a month ago, it was $300 (on top of the $800 we paid to fill it in the fall). *sigh*

ETA- You still win!! Lol

Not really sure how to read your billing.  In general what does it average per ton for coal?  Here we are paying $243 us$ for 1 ton bulk coal with us hauling.  Free delivery if you take 3 ton minimum.  The prebagged coal is $287 a ton.  We've already gone thru 2 ton and I am needing another.  Normally we only use about 2.5 ton.  Not this yr....Oh, and that doesn't include the propane delivery's we've had.

Wow, and I complain about my 250 - 300 dollar electric bill we get for 6 or 7 months out of the year! I think I'll stay down here in hot South Texas.

Just think, if the taxes were not almost 48% of the bill you could have bought more coal.

How is this even affordable... I can't imagine....
My propane tank is only for our hot water heater. $100 was added back in July and I still have yet to refill it...

The rest of our tiny home is electric.  When old faithful goes out we will switch to a tankless -electric hotwater heater.

In your opinion mruggles, how do you think this will play out??? Do you think people will find other ways to heat their homes? Is that even an option in ab? Surely there are more cost efficient ways than to pay that tax! Wow...

I lived in a house that had a furnace that used heating oil back when the fuel prices were really high (still are, but thankfully are less than they were!).  It was costing me $800 to fill the heating oil tank, which would only last me 6 weeks.  This was in addition to building a fire in an inefficient old fireplace insert every morning and night.  It was ridiculous!  Loved living there but just could not afford it.  I remember going and buying 5 gallon jugs of red dye diesel and burning that in the furnace to make it between fill ups.  Urghhhh!
