| Dear BHW,
What is your favorite brand of straw cowboy hat to run barrels in?
I am tired of using a felt in the summer heat and would like to be cool and comfortable this year!
Unfortunately I have not been able to find one that will stay put unless it is cutting off all circulation.
Thoughts?!
PS I refuse to wear a stampede string and have already tried the toilet paper trick. That was quite the failure on my end. |

| Last spring I jumped on the bandwagon and bought myself an American Hat. I love it so much!! I pull the inner hatband down on the back right before I run, a trick I learned from a roughstock rider, and I've never lost it. Super comfy and cute! |

| I kept telling myself I was going to get an American straw hat when they were here for the jr high school finals...and then I never did...oops.
Yes are you flipping the hat band down in the back? That's the only thing that's ever worked for me that didn't involve a lot of Bobby pins and pain, which still did not work on occasion. |

Location: Phoenix | I like the Resistol Cattleman's hat. You have to consider the shape of your head. Mine is more oval than round and this hat works for me. Looks sharp too. I just wedge my hat down so my noggin is IN the crown. |

Location: MN | I have tried on just about every brand hat there is and my Bailey's straw hat is the only one for me!! Fits me like a glove. Love that thing! I wish I could wear it all the time LOL. Plus it wont break the bank!

Location: SW North Dakota | We have used Americans for a couple of years, but the kids (teens) still only get one season out of their Americans, and they don't fit my son's head right. He likes a $30 Bailey, which works for me! My daughter is SOOOO hard on hats, but the Americans fit her well until they wear out. I always know when she needs a new one... she barely clears the gate before it flies off (YIKES).
I have 2 American 6 7/8 straws now that are BRAND new- too small for my son and too big for my daughter (lesson learned, make sure the kid is there when you purchase hats for kids that wear 6 7/8). |

| I found a Tony Lama that I really like. It doesn't have leather for the inner band, it is a softer material so it fits my head but doesn't make the terrible red marks or cut off circulation. And I somehow scored and got it on sale and paid like $40 for it! |

Location: Ohio girl moved to PA | I absolutely LOVE my american!! before i decided to drop the money on a good one, i used to use a cheap ol Justin from TSC. Mom painted the under side and you never knew what brand it was. Unfortunatly it seen its better days and had to be retired, but i got so many compliments on it. It fit me the best out of any hat ive ever worn. Only had to bobby pin on the side and i was good to go. |
